BeerZack (116), Austin, Texas, USA May 4, 2008 Dark brownish mahogany with small tan head that leaves some fine lace.
Smells of chocolate, toffee, roasted barley, raisin, molasses, some spice.
Tastes much as the nose indicates. Mildly bitter chocolate, raisin, molasses, roasted barley. Big malt flavor without being sweet.
Smooth full mouthfeel despite somewhat aggressive carbonation. Impressively simple.
badbeer (391), Iowa, USA Jul 7, 2008 Dark amber brown color with a quickly dissipating head; no head retention and no lacing. Smell is pretty nice; some caramel, dark fruit, and some cocoa powder. Taste is fairly sweet with a chocolate-y finish; maybe some caramel in there, too. High side of medium carbonation with heavier than medium body. I could probably see myself having a few of these in an evening. Pretty good beer. Walt (2257), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 16, 2008 Pour is dark ruddy brownish amber with a thin tan head...smell is faintly fruity with some light pears and hints of toasted bread or melty chocolate...taste is lightly sweet and roasty with a strange off cardboard flavor toward the finish... stefanje (484), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA May 28, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of Pepsican. Pours a dark brown color with red highlights and a small khaki head. The aroma has cherries, roasted malts and some earthy dust. The flavor is light with more red fruit, a hint of coffee, minerals and chocolate. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The finish is short, dry and slightly astringent. Overall: A very basic, but enjoyable, brew. I recommend it. restless7 (102), Lenexa, Kansas, USA May 10, 2008 BOTTLE:Dark with nice lace. Definite chocolate and roasted malt aroma and flavor. Lively palate with a long but minorly dry finish and very earthy.
