12oz bottle-tan-dk amber. A-smoke, med malt-roast. T-smoke/peat/ashy, med malt-roast/caramel, some earthy hops. Wrong mouthfeel for a barleywine.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of randompepsiedgarbagedcanned. Thanks bro! Pours a hazy, dark reddish orange appearance with a light brown head that thins pretty quickly. Kind of a burnt woody smoked, caramel, a touch fruity, just a bit spicy aroma. Chewy, sweet BBQ, applewood, toffee, smoked woody, a bit herbal, fairly well balanced beer. Nice offering.

Bottle shared by JCWattsrugger. Pours reddish amber with off white head. Nose and taste of smoke, candied malt, peat, brown sugar and dark fruit. A bit too smoky with not much else going on. Quick finishing - lighter than medium body.

Pours a gorgeous deep red with a small but tight and well retained head.

The aroma is rich and smoky, really similar to a dialed down version of The Schlenkerla Urbock... That same rich but clean smoky character, that some light sweetness, that same light fruitiness. This stuff is has a very inviting aroma.

The flavor is less balanced and awesome, It is indeed nicely smoky but there are a lot of other elements here that don’t seem to jive all that well together. It’s a bit soapy right up front and there is a very odd apple skin character that is as dominant if not more dominant than the smoke, I generally like a little red apple skin as a note of complexity in beer, but it’s extremely forward here and not in a great way. The alcohol is noticeable but the beer isn’t offensively boozy or anything.

Mouthfeel is bit & the low carbonation is pulled off very well here.

Bottle from CanIHave4FuzazyNavels. Thanks!
Pours a deep amber with redwood highlights. Nose is a light waft of campfire smoke, a touch of pork, and a smidgen of cold night. Flavor is smoky prune syrup with a finish of bbq’d brisket lightly dusted with smoke. Nice mouthfeel. Good beer.

Ruby red with a thin off-white head and heaps of dead yeast that slowly settle to the bottom of the glass. Aroma of smoked malts, oak, mild caramel, alcohol and peated notes. Taste of smoked malts, caramel, salt, mild oak and middle-of-the-road malts. Okay at best.

Bottle. A deep red tinged brown body with a whispy thin off white head. Smoke absolutely obliterates anything else to be smelled in this one. I guess that there is some wood and caramel apples. This tastes like smoked up apples and caramel. About like it smells. Again, the smoke is not at all well balanced. The base beer is just pushed to the side by the smoke. There is a little bit of caramel sweetness as it warms. Decent and definitely one for the smoke lovers.

Dark brownish-red color, minimal head. Smoky and boozy aroma. Very smokey flavor and slightly sweet. Not terrible, but not what I expect from a barleywine.

Tap. Murky amber pour with a clingy white head. Lots of smoked peat, but it comes off as a bit artificial. I’m picking up a bit of plastic as well. Overall, I don’t hate it, but it seems like they cut some corners with this one.

Aroma is dark fruit, fruit, bananas and a decent hint of alcohol. The flavor is smoked malts, medium sweetness, fruit and a tangy/alcohol finish.
