12oz bottle. Murky, unfiltered amber-burgundy. Thin soda head with rising carbonation bubbles. Some banana clove and rich caramel in the aroma. A pretty decent example, full bodied, sugary, rich. Sugar rum soaked dark fruit, not so brutal in the alcohol presence but it is certainly ever-present. Big and rich, good, but not quite nailing it.

Bottle thanks to CanIHave4Beers. Hazy brown pour with a thin wispy beige head. Nose is my mom’s banana bread, pure and simple. Taste adds sweetness in the form of toffee and caramel. Dig it.

Bottled. Poured deeper garnet with a short-lived smoked tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter berries, dry-roasted chocolate, and some lovely deeper banana toward the back.. definitely some warmth in there. The flavor found muddled overripe banana and chocolate at the core with tangy wheat and cloves around.. dry spices and peppery warmth through the finish. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate with low carbonation.. decent feel and flow.. this grew on me.

Bottled. A dark ruddy brown colored brew with a wispy thin off white head. The sweet nose is loaded with caramel and cola. There is also some smell like the anise in root beer. There is some rich roasted peanut and bread crust. There is also a little hint of clove spice. A nice brew with overall hints of root beer in the finish. A decent brew.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of pepsiedcan. Thanks pepsicus! Pours a very murky, maroonish brown appearance with a small tan head that dissipates quite quickly. Fairly toasty, a touch burnt, big banana, rich phenol aroma. A bit buttery, tangy, rich banana, bubblegum, burnt toasty flavor with a chocolate covered banana aftertaste. Light carbonation and some booze. A little disappointing to me.

[Bottle] Pours deep red with a small head. Aroma has nice banana and bubblegum. Taste is not as good, with some multi grain cheerios, a little wheat, and alcohol is fairly restrained or absent. Some apple shows up at times, and the favors are a little muddled. The banana is also noticeably absent. Out of the six pack, a couple of bottles weren’t too bad, but several had an unpleasant metallic taste that really dropped the score. There is also almost a nuttiness (almond) that is out of place and fairly pervasive in all of the bottles. Full mouthfeel, smooth, and a decent length finish. Overall, when this is on, it is pretty nice stuff. Unfortunately, it is variable and the bottles that are not on aren’t really that enjoyable. Worth a shot either way though.

Aroma is strongly malty, similar to a doppelbock. The flavor is similar to the aroma with some graininess and some banana and yeast flavor. I wouldn’t say this is a bad weizenbock, it just tastes more like a doppelbock due to the subdued weizen characteristics.
