My favorite tipple thatís always on the bar. A very bitter but easy drinking pale ale that reminds me of the old Bargeís Best Bitter from years gone by

Cask @ Barge and Barrel, Elland. Mid-yellow with a smooth head. It has a bitter citric kick with an underlying tropical fruit character and a touch dry in the palate.

The Crown, Nuneaton, 13/10/13- Team JVís first appearance for quite some time. Handsome pale gold hugely capped with dense-lacing white. Nose good zest of lime, curry leaf, cats, sharper citrus- kumquat? Pillowed condition; decent red apple and lime notes; perfumed coriander and parsley-like citrus, some disinfectant and corn. Too much corn.

On cask at Brambles in Holmfirth - a pale body, white head. A bit of a grassy aroma, herbs and hops coming through too. Fresh taste, nice lasting finish, and one for a session...

Cask at Pigs Ear. Hazy pale gold beer, little white head. Light dry palate. Very low carbonation. Very light pale malt and just a forensic amount of hop. Some floral notes rescue it a little but itís bordering on insipid.

Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Golden with a bubbly white head. Aromas are caramel and hay with lychee and pineapple. Creamy oak with low pine notes. Dusty yeast with grapefruit and lemon. Flavours are sweet, clean lager cereal malts with pineapple and dry, woody notes. Grassy and fairly herbal with a dry, crisp low citrus finish. Close to being a lager. Pretty good.
