Medium Dry Cider.
The variety of ancient apples that go into producing our Mixed Scrumpy gives it a deep, golden appearance. It has a fresh, vibrant apple aroma, and a dry oaky taste with a subtle rum finish. Slightly sparkling on initial pour.

Backlog rating. Cask at CPK, London. It pours a translucent pale golden color with no head. Aroma is semi-sweet baked apples, light green apples, apple crumble. Taste has more sweet apples, apple crumble, vanilla, light vinous estery quality. Light tartness throughout. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, decent

500cl bottle purchased at a local farmers market, consumed on 30 July 2009. Dark gold colour. Not really a scrumpy in any sense I’d recognize. Rather sweet, low on tannin and certainly lacking in rough farmyard character. However, it does have plenty of fruit and presents as a decent, clean and refreshing cider.

From the polypin at the Orchard, Bristol 25/10/09. I was conufused as the board at the pub referred to this as being from Somerset - however, the producer’s website mentions it presses Somerset aplles in Hertfordshire. This was an enjoyable cider. Having drunk dry ciders immediately before, it initially seemed very sweet. However, once my palate adjusted to it, this was a good golden cider, with plenty of apple juice and a honeyed edge.

A Mes rate: Barrel at the White Horse in Hedgerley.
A very clean and unusually dark cider. Big, sweet and juicy but never over-powering. Beautifully poised and for all the sweetness it has a pleasant dryness on the finish.
