COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our most popular seasonal offering without question, with its light body, mellow pumpkin character and delicate spice flavor.Pumpkins have been used in American brewing since Colonial Times and here at Milly's we carry on this tradition. We use only fresh New Hampshire grown pumpkins (thanks Farmer Phil) unlike many breweries using purees and extracts which are available year around, our Pumpkin Ale is only available after the first harvest (typically mid/late September, so beware of the imitators.

Draft at the source. Hazy golden color, small white head. Aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, gourd. Taste is more gourd than spice. Subtle and balanced, not too spice-heavy.

Light orange colour. Sweet pumpkin aroma. Light clove spiciness mostly Very light bodied, pale malt, earthy/woody spice. Tastes like licking an old tree. Spices are stale and underdeveloped. Meh.

Attractive pumpkin spiciness, even in the non-cinnamon-rimmed glass...Candies sit on wood and oranges extend into easy drinking...Well-balanced, not too sweet and quite flavorful...

Rastacouere (6119) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 29, 2005
Clear orange, no head. Muted pumpkin grain aroma, sweet and pie like initially, but as it warms, it develops a welcome dryness. Fruity and bready palate counts on a gentle spiciness to counter the overall grainy feel of the malt. Feels greenish on the palate and ends with a bit of astringency. Light carbonation, medium bodied. Pretty interesting, I wouldn’t mind trying that again.

Tap at Milly’s in Manchester, NH. Served as a sampler size in a flight, and the glass was rimmed with sugar. Good pumpkin aroma and flavor, with cinnamon/nutmeg spices. Palate was moderate. Fun brew.

tiggmtl (4548) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 31, 2005
Sweet pumpkin aroma with a malty character that shines through. Clear amber-copper coloured body with shy white head that diminishes to ring. Mild, grainy malt flavour with some fruitiness. Light body with fairly low carbonation feels a bit watery. Tried this one both with and without the sugar rimmed glass that is the usual serving method. Definitely preferred it without the added sugar. Sampled at the brewpub with dirtymike, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Rastacouere and Volgon.

New England Road Trip Easter ’05 with MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere, beer #13. Small sample at the brewpub, also in the company of Volgon and brewer Dirtymike. Orange-amber translucence with the smallest wisp of foam...light, sweet squash nose...nice initial fruity-vegtable nose, light spiciniess...bit watery and dull late...dry, thin finish.

Draft at the pub. They will serve it with or without sugar around the rim. I got the sugar. Nice pumpkin spice nose. The sugar adds to the pumpkin pie likeness, “cinnamon and spice”. Good drinkability goes down REAL easy. Pumpkin is light and not over the top. Carbonation adds a nice tingle in the mouthfeel. With or without the sugar it’s a nice brew. Well crafted.
