Cask at Peterborough Beer Fest. Straw colour. Evidently grassy nose. Very dry with light buttery malm. A, well made, slimmed very drinkable session beer with a bitterish grassy finish.

Draught (Cambridge Blue, Cambridge) Light gold, no head. Tinned asparagus aroma and caramelly malt. Some mushrooms and malt. Almost tinned tuna in places. Richly malted too. Anna says "tinned veg.".

Cask, Pembury Tavern. Fresh citrus aroma, cinnamon, musk. One of those beers that smell like something that would make nice soap. Mild sort of dull bell-toned hops give way to an incredibly delicious toasty note that lingers amazingly long. If the sort of muddled hop profile didn’t dull the stunning malt character, this would be something truely fine. And not bad as is.

Cask, Pembury Tavern, Hackney. Pale yellow colour. Light citric notes throughout. Dry, slightly sharp mouthfeel. The body is, not surprisingly, quite light but this is a good, no-nonsense, refreshing, quaffing session beer in a fairly modern style. Obviously not just a one-off special, but whether it is now a permanent part of the range or an occasional brew I don’t know.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Pembury Tavern. Straw coloured. Hoppy nose with some tobacco. Dusty hoppy flavour with a drying finish. Basic but rather tasty.

Cask gravity at Pembury Tavern. Gold, lasting off white head. Bit of butter which fades to leave a pleasing session bitter. Decent drying dusty hop on finish. Fine.

Cask pint, Lloyd’s, Nuneaton. Yellowish haze with a slick of white suds. Hints of wood and citrussy hop in the snout. Delicate, aromatic Pale Ale with wafts of lemon and biscuity malt. Tasty-ish sessions I suppose, but a touch on the watery side.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2009 Cask at Banbury Beer Festival Fri 23rd March. Light golden, fruity beer with plenty of hops and good citrusy (grapefruit) taste. A6 A3 F7 P4 Ov15 3.5 Had this again Cask at The Royal Blenheim, Oxford, 16-05-09 Pours clean gold, white head, crisp, dry a strange aroma which smelt a little sicky, strangely this wasn’t off putting and I’m sure that I could describe it better but rating to my phone whilst chatting to friends sick was all I could think of. Quite refreshing, simple decent beer, some citrus, like this A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest 07. Straw colour with bubbly white head. Light crisp hoppy beer with lemony, grapefruit charcter. Thinnish malt, a little grainy on the tongue, bitter and long finish.
