3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask in the Pembury Tavern E8. Getting towards the end of an evening so slightly dulled senses...but this was nice and far better than the lousy pint I had preceding it! Deep black stout, bit of oaty smoothness, plenty of roasty bitter flavours, malt and cocoa. Good solid stout.

The taste is smooth, roasted malt, cocoa, coffee grinds, earth, dark caramel, custard and toast with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Very smooth and drinkable stout.

Hand pulled at the Waggon and Horses, Halesowen. Jet black, not much topping. Slick , dark flavours, sweet choc mixed with bar-b-q bricks. Fairly mild, with some moments of metallic coco. Easy drinking, could do with more flav.

Thick black beer with red-ish head. Slightly oily palate and very heavy on the burnt flavours with a long bitter finish. Good beer but perhaps lacks subtlety.
