JPDIPSO (4180), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Apr 17, 2007 Near black color with a creamy tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted and black malt, light toffee and a touch of coffee and charcoal. Flavors of cocoa, roasted malts, coffee liqueur and peated charcoal. Lots os flavors rolling about. A full sweet stout, with a touch more bitterness than I prefer, but it does help balance. A fine stout either way. KingpinIPA (789), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Feb 28, 2007 Dark color with a nice milky, foaming head. Smell of malt, Irish cream, hops, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel and a touch of alcohol. Taste of roasted coffee, malt, vanilla, hops, oak, chocolate and a nice bitterness at the end. More chocolate smell and flavor when it warms up. Nice!!! brewblackhole (1214), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Feb 25, 2007 Aroma is chocol;ate, coffee and smoke, smells tempting and exciting, first sip hits me with the sensation that this is an undercarbonated medium bodied brew,a pet peeve of mine, and tends to skewer any other impressions, the ingrediants are tastey, quality chocolate, coffee, oakiness, black patent malt, plenty of roastiness, finishes with a satisfying roasted bitter, potential is there, they should try this one again, undercarbonation can work, but only in really full bodied brews otherwise you get a watery sensation. Up the Plato on this baby or carbonate it a little more and they have a winner Ughsmash (2776), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Feb 20, 2007 On cask at the brewpub. Poured deep brown with a medium cap of creamy beige head and had nice lacing. Aroma was of milk chocolate shavings.. kind of dusty in presentation.. with light underlying booze from the Godiva liqueur. Dry milk and darker chocolates in the flavor with some earthy bitterness... fuller than the aroma... slightly dusty with a slight alcohol kick at the back-end. Grainy and drier on the palate, yet refreshing... the low carbonation from the cask treatment gave this a decent feel. OK overall. 1FastSTi (2333), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Feb 10, 2007 Had this today. The beer pours to a nice black body with a dense nitro-like light-brown head and spotted sheet lacing. The aroma is molten chocolate volcano dessert. Really sweet and syrupy chocolate. The flavor is a blend of semi-sweet chocolate, bitter cocoa powder, and leaves with a lingering sweetened condensed milk chocolate oatmeal brownie. The palate has a dry powdered chocolate feel that fully coats the mouth. This brew is done well and I’d classify it as a chocolate Irish sweet/dry stout. I liked this nearly as much as the Milk Stout.
