COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full hop regiment attributes to a fresh citrus aroma and earthy flavor all balanced by lightly toasted malts. Not long ago, workers would be called to their union mandated beer breaks with the pull of the chain activated steam whistle. Beer bucket boys would hustle cold brew out to the workers before they returned to the production line. Our Pull Chain Pail Ale is a tribute to the working men and women who built this great city. Back to work!

Pretty good. Easy drinking. Nothing special. Golden pour. Little head. Yeast and wheat for this style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draft at Barleycorn. Pours hazy burnt orange, frothy tan head that persists. Aroma grapefruit, pine, resin, earth, bread malts. Lighter bodied with a nice balance of bread malts, citrus hop bitterness without being over the top. Nice session beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This pours cloudy pale orange into the glass and is topped by a small soapy head. Bright citrus up front, this wanes to an earthy, grassy bitterness balanced by a slight sweetness. Soft but vigorous carbonation suits the light texture, making for a drinkable beer that is not at all watery. Some lemon notes come out in the finish as well as perhaps just a slightly overstrong amount of bitterness. This is almost a home run. I could see some slight adjustments making this really excellent.

Originally reviewed: 11/4/09. Poured into my pint glass. Pours a very cloudy brownish-orange with a huge rocky off-white head on top. Good retention; leaves little lace. Smells of sharp grapefruit, pine resin, and a slight whiff of honey on the finish. The body has a wet aspect as I sip. Carbonation level is low/moderate. Could stand to be a bit fuller in this area. Flavor is of a nice citrus bitterness at the onset, slightly spicy. Nothing harsh though. Has a great bready finish that I really enjoy. Some toasted bread crust in there as well. There’s a nice balance with this beer, as I continue to sip the malty sweetness comes through more and more. This is a splendid Pale.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark orange witgh a small white head. Aroma is balanced between sweet caramel and some soft citric hoppiness. Definitely a bit of a bready cracker note. Flavor starts sweet and mildly citric again. Some floral hops and a graininess towards the finish which has a light bitterness. Medium body and crisp carbonation.

Bottle - Clear light amber pour with a thin bubbly white head. Crackery biscuity malt on the nose, some mild citrus and herbal hopping, and a bit of caramel malt. Taste is very light--a crackery malt backbone with more yeast prominence than I’d expect, and a light citrus hopping. Very subtle, but balanced. Nothing bombastic about this one. And though I like my APA’s a bit cleaner, this is still pretty tasty. Carves out its own niche, for sure.

On tap at the Milwaukee Brewing Co with ground hops on top. Poured a hazy gold with a tan head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice pine note with backing grass and grain. Flavor has a good amount of grass notes with a hint of pine and a grain backbone.

Flight on tap at the brewpub (Milwaukee, WI). Pours a well hazed golden amber pour, some fiery orange glow to it with a decent sized frothy whitish head that dies to a spotty film, thicker ring lacing overall. Aromas are light oranges and lemons, touches of grass, florals, and crisp bready malts. Lacks a little bit of pop, but smells nice overall yet simple. Initial is lighter bodied with touches of dry floral bitter hops up front, some grass. Middle moves quickly into some crisp bready and cereal grains, lighter. Backend offers more bitterness, touches of lemons and subtle notes of grapefruit, citrus, and grassy/floral elements. Fairly clean with some lingering bitter hops. Pretty enjoyable, lighter fare with a small kick of bitter American hops into the finish.

Draft at Milwaukee Brewing. Pours an attractive reddish-orange with a fluffy and persistent white head. Nose is citrusy and pretty fresh, light toasted malts in the background. Clean. On tasting, moderate bitterness, good citrus hop flavor with balancing malt. Quite nice overall and worth drinking.

Bottle courtesy of nuplastikk, thanks! Hazy bright golden color, large fluffy white head, good lacing. Aroma of hay and white pepper. Taste is straightforward bitter, but not too bitter, with a dry finish. Decent stuff.
