COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Full bodied, orange hued ale. A variety of toasted and caramel malts create a nice backdrop to the aggressive citrus and floral hop notes.

12 oz bottle from Woodman’s (Oak Creek, WI). Wasn’t available when I stopped by the brewery. Pours a rich deep copper pour, striking hues offer a firm glow and some haze. Fiery deep reddish hues with a fluffy brighter white head that becomes a good layer, laces ok overall. Sticks around. Aromas are biscuity and hoppy, gentle sticky sweetness, touches of oxidation, and mellow lemon and florals. Touches of toffee, pale malts, toast. A bit faded it seems. Initial is medium bodied offering a firm lemony and soapy hopping up front, grass and florals, touches of citrus and dry bitterness up front. Touches of toast and biscuits come into the fold, with some gentle caramel. Quite dry and striking earthy hops linger into middle and finish, touches of soap and florals, some mellow yeastiness. Dry biscuits and bread, toast. Lacks complexity, but works on the palate. Doable, a firm yet forgettable IPA that seems just a touch fades yet still firmly bitter.

madvike (2588) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 24, 2012
Bottle - Pours lightly hazy light amber with a huge fluffy off white head. Light citrus/herbal hopping on the nose and a bit of lightly toasted malt. Balanced. Taste is roughly the same, with a hint of nuttiness. A touch of mineral, and not much hoppiness, even through the finish. Light bodied, a little slick, and nice carbonation. Pretty subtle, but very balanced.

Draft at Milwaukee Alehouse. Pours an attractive orangey-gold with a fluffy white head. The nose is fresh and vibrant. Light florals combine with a bright citrus-peel note as well. Crisp and clean overall. On tasting, main issue is that it seems a touch watery. Bright hops and a firm bitterness are present but the malt is a bit thin. Not bad, but could use a bit more malt. Comes across as an APA more than an IPA.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 12 oz. Bottle - Pours a light amber color. Nice hop flavor and the bitterness is well balanced. Caramel malt & citrus are here which work well in this IPA. Not too overpowering @ 7.5%. Very nice overall.

An orange amber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, classic pinhey hops, citrus pulp, caramel malt. In mouth, a smooth biscuit with piney hops, citrus, candy sugar, very nice. Bottle at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 21 2012.

Poured on tap at milwaukee ale house listed as MBC IPA. Poured slightly hazy orange with nice white head, aroma has of resin, pine, citrus oils, some caramel notes as well. Taste of much fresher than the bottle sample I had, nice fresh orange and lemon, bitter pine mix with biscuit and caramel, fairly bitter finish. Pretty nice.

Bottle courtesy of ughsmash. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of resin, metallic, soapy. Tastes resiny and sticky with some molasses undertones and an earthy, slightly bitter finish.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2012 Labeled as IPA or India Pale Ale. No date or abv. I believe this is brand new to bottles. Pours a deep darkish amber with hints of orange and brown. It has a nice 2 finger white head that has nice retention and recedes to some nice lacing The smell is very reminiscent of English IPA the hops are slightly piney but it also has that indescribable British ale aroma. The yeast and malt is at work here too. The hops are amped up in the flavor, I kinda disagree with the malt flavor in this one, it isn’t sweet enough to complement the hops or flavorful enough to replace them. The hops are predominantly piney with a hint of grassy bitterness. They are prevalent but perhaps a bit one deimensional, you get the same decent piney bitterness each sip. The mouthfeel is very nice though, moderate carbonation with a nice fullness. The drinkability is also high, It seems very sessionable. Perhaps a DIPA or a more hop oriented IPA is in the wings for this brewery but as a session ipa this one works well. Overall it is good, but could be better, this brewery seems like it could do big things in the future. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-11-2010 22:54:36 Edit: If Hop Happy is indeed the same as the IPA then it got a whole lot worse. They tasted like 2 totally different recipes, the new one is buttery as all fuck.

Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a dark copper/amber with a nice white head and lacing through out the glass, aroma has a decent citrus and hop touches to it, the flavor has a little sweeter than I’m used to for an IPA but it still works, nice smooth finish, decent.
