UPDATED: FEB 23, 2015 Amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt. Taste is sweetness first on the tongue, then a malty base. Earthy hop finish. Flavor lasts after the final sip. Malt, hops, yum!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy amber with a medium sized, off-white head. Nice lacing. The aroma is malty, with lots of toasted bread, and some mellow floral hops. The flavor adds a lot of caramel and some assertive bitterness. It’s ok.

Bottle. Clear orange amber pour with a white head. Smells artificial - caramel and grassy hops. Lagery. Taste is a bit cloying. Not digging this.

1.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Very disappointing beer. Was looking for a hoppy, Oktoberfest style beer but this was plain, boring, and just meh. Have been unimpressed so far with MKE Brew Co.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2015 Blind tasting: This is orange in color w/ a foamy head. It has a bit of sulfur in the nose and is a bit fruity and apply but actually quite pleasant. It’s a bit sweet and solidly bitter. Nice beer overall.
Original rating(3.7): I am not sure why this is called Hoptoberfest. It is not especially hoppy and seems to be pretty much a down-the-middle American festbier. Regardless, it is quite good w/ loads of fresh, rich malt flavor. It is sweet but only very slightly sticky and quite drinkable w/ perky carbonation and a good deal of herbal bitterness in the finish. I might call this a heller bock rather than an Oktoberfest but, regardless, it is done much better than most doestic takes on heavier German styles.
