COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An amber ale with exceptional balance and smoothness. Brewed with a blend of specialty malts. Balanced by a choice blended of hops. True story... 1886 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, great uncle Louie was cracked over the head with a beer glass and killed. Louie’s story is one of many Wisconsin tavern legends that gives life and color to our heritage. Drink one for uncle Louie and remember: today’s barroom story might just be tomorrow’s legend.

Bottle - Pours hazy reddish amber with a light tan head. Nose is light spicy wood with a faintly yeasty bread note. Light sweetness. Taste is a bit sharp, with a faint cherry note and toasted bread malt. Woody finish with a bit of milkiness. I swear there’s some heat on the finish. Nice carbonation, and a bit slick. Odd beer, with some flavors that I wouldn’t expect in an amber. Not my thing.

Flight on tap at the brewpub (Milwaukee, WI). Pours a glowing crisp amber hue, good glow, touch of haze as more orange works it’s way into play. A frothy offwhite head sits atop, stays as a small film, laces well. Aromas are crisp toffee and toast, gentle bready and doughy malts, touches of toast, sticky caramel and toffee. Gentle bready yeast and a touch of earthy hops. Initial is lighter bodied, touches of sweetness and grass, light toastiness up front. Middle gets a bit more bitter, gentle toast and crispness. Mellow sweetness into the finish leaves this simple, a bit sticky and a touch of butter. Mellow and odd, that weird buttery note sticks on me. Meh. Has some good parts and some bad. Finish doesn’t work for me.

Kinda fell flat for me. Was expecting more flavor. Was told it is better on tap than in a bottle. Decent but I was expecting more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. Bottle - Pours a medium copper color with a creamy light head. Flavor is on the sweet malty side with a hint of caramel. Not bad, but nothing special.

Pours a hazy amber/ruby color with a medium tan head...nice lacing. Aroma is very malty...light fruitiness, doughy, a bit wheaty, and some faint leafy hop notes. Flavor follows suit but is more leafy and less doughy...tastes like mildly hoppy tea...mild toasted malt and a hint of caramel. Mouthfeel is a bit thin and the finish is earthy and mapley...like dry leaves.

Bottle. Orange amber pour with a small amount of sediment - huge light cream colored head that held shape for several minutes. Mild aroma of sweet caramel. Medium palate. Taste is smooth caramel malt, just a touch of sweetness - very drinkable. Taste isn’t quite as good as it warms, however, very nice representation of the style.

Tap sample. Poured hazy brown color with an average white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Average drinkable brew.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.
