Our flagship brand; this medium bodied amber ale starts with a rich malt flourish that’s kept in perfect balance by a smooth hop finish. This MKE original is similar to a German style alt beer.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2009 Mildly hazy deep amber with a thin tan head that meets its demise fairly quickly. Aroma of heavy caramel, fruit and lightly toasted malt. Flavor is heavy on the caramel with dark fruits and not much in terms of hops though a mild bitterness does come through on the finish. A bit oily and grainy and dry on the finish.

(02-15-08 = 8-4-7-3-13)Draught at the Gasthaus. Nice dark amber color with pleasant aroma. Nothing good or bad about palate. Beer had nice flavor and I enjoyed this beer and would try it again.

On tap at Silver Creek BrewPub. Nice session beer. Pretty copper color with no head to speak of. Starts malty with a well balanced hop finish. In fairness, Silver Creek serves everything chilled which may not bring out it’s best

This was the only other beer on offer from the Milwaukee Ale House. I wish they’d had a few more. This one was also good. I wouldn’t call it world class but it is solid coming from a brewpub not known for outstanding beers. Perhaps the rest of their lineup is weak but this one is not.

Aroma / Appearance - The amber body had a bit of carbonation. The nose was straightforward cherry, malts and caramel. It did not get too complex but it was not one dimensional either.

Flavor / Palate - Caramel, cherries and malt also form the basis on the taste. There aren’t any major flaws but there are also no real strengths. For an amber ale it does the job well.

Sampled at the brewpub on 6/25/07: Pours a dark amber copper with a frothy, clingy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of toasty grainy caramel malt and a hint of piny hops. Body starts with a fairly full and caramely sweetness along with some bittering earthy hop notes and peat, toward a bittersweet balanced finish.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2010 12oz bottle. Tasted 7/28/07. Dark amber. Nice hue. Minimal head. Rye and bready aromas. Mildly figgy. Medium bodied with moderate malts and dry hops. Nice medium roast. Sticky with a cola ish effervescence. Good and sticky. RE-RATE...Tasted 8/15/10. Sampler from the Brewpub. Mildly hazy with a thick ring of light khaki head. Great toasty aromas! Great nose! Mild caramel, toast and burnt sugar. Medium bodied with, once again, a fantastic flavor for an amber ale. Malt dominant with nicely roasted malts. Sticky finish mixed with an astringent bitter zest. Very nice indeed!

This is, ounce-for-ounce, the best beer bargain in Milwaukee, and maybe the state. $6.99 a six-pack for delicious amber body, with lots of malts, and other flavors all combining for a great sum of the individual parts. I’m glad it’s not available elsewhere yet, because MAH would somehow ruin it by making too much!

Nice looking beer and a nice drinking one, too. Plenty of malt in the flavor and surprisingly dry effects. I would buy this one again.

This ale pors deep amber and gives off nice notes of the sweet malt. The beer is quite smooth with notes of molasses and roasted nuts. It finished quite smooth.
