COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An amber ale with exceptional balance and smoothness. Brewed with a blend of specialty malts. Balanced by a choice blended of hops. True story... 1886 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, great uncle Louie was cracked over the head with a beer glass and killed. Louie’s story is one of many Wisconsin tavern legends that gives life and color to our heritage. Drink one for uncle Louie and remember: today’s barroom story might just be tomorrow’s legend.

Nice frothy head at first with a deep amber and reddish hue. Aroma of toffee and some nutmeg. Deeper exploration upon the palate reveals a lack of complexity. A little biscuit and dried fruit. Slight bittering character, but again fails to be anything more than mediocre.

Pretty tame for an amber ale, with none of the bite that can come with the genre. Good lookin’ on the pour with a nice aroma that’s more caramel than spruce, although they’re both there. Somewhat thin on the body, and a taste that’s a little sweet and a little bitter. Solid offering from another little guy bringing good brewing back to Beertown.

Sample at the brewpub. Darkish amber, clear, fairly light in both color and body for the style. Very light tobacco-caramel malt nose. Smooth, dusty and woody, mostly quite sweet, reasonably full.

Bottle: Translucent copper, thin off-white head, spotty lacing, with lively carbonation.   Cereal/grain aroma, akin to pellet food.   Subtle malt aroma.   Pale malt flavor.   Noticable grain/cereal.   Average body & mouthfeel.   Smooth finish, lingering malts.   Decent, but a bit below average IMO.   Thanks Matt D!

Grainy faintly hoppy aroma, noble-ish. Some malt in the aroma, but mostly just grainy. Much better malt flavor than the aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Light bitterness, clean yeast character.

A pleasant brown ale that is set apart from others of the breed with grassy notes, but otherwise a fairly standard rendering of bready malts and clover hops.

I’m not a huge fan of this beer: it’s a little darker for an amber and is a little too malty. I can see why others like it though: it has a somewhat fruity aroma and is a strong beer although relatively smooth

Pours an amber color with a medium foamy white head. Caramel aroma, with a bit of citrus. Taste is about the same......rather malty, with some pineyness to it. Nothing very special.

The perfect looking beer. Dark copper/reddish with a thick, creamy beige head that lasts with some good lacing. Aroma is sweet. Too sweet actually. Flavor is lightly of malt and caramel. Some faint bitter hops in the background and in the aftertaste, but nowhere near enough. This is good, but it has a watered down finish that disappoints. Label on bottle and the story on the carton are interesting. But this is not worth the $8 they get for a six-pack.
