COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An amber ale with exceptional balance and smoothness. Brewed with a blend of specialty malts. Balanced by a choice blended of hops. True story... 1886 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, great uncle Louie was cracked over the head with a beer glass and killed. Louie’s story is one of many Wisconsin tavern legends that gives life and color to our heritage. Drink one for uncle Louie and remember: today’s barroom story might just be tomorrow’s legend.

Sample at the brewpub. Darkish amber, clear, fairly light in both color and body for the style. Very light tobacco-caramel malt nose. Smooth, dusty and woody, mostly quite sweet, reasonably full.

Grainy faintly hoppy aroma, noble-ish. Some malt in the aroma, but mostly just grainy. Much better malt flavor than the aroma. Medium to full-bodied. Light bitterness, clean yeast character.

The perfect looking beer. Dark copper/reddish with a thick, creamy beige head that lasts with some good lacing. Aroma is sweet. Too sweet actually. Flavor is lightly of malt and caramel. Some faint bitter hops in the background and in the aftertaste, but nowhere near enough. This is good, but it has a watered down finish that disappoints. Label on bottle and the story on the carton are interesting. But this is not worth the $8 they get for a six-pack.

Amber orange pour with a white head. Aroma is caramel, pennies, some boiled greens hop notes? Flavor is predominantly caramel, some sweet malt. Not much hop character. A little metallic. Ok.

12 oz. Bottle. Poured an amberish color with a medium to light head. Classic malty amber. Decent brew but nothing crazy.

I’m not a huge fan of this beer: it’s a little darker for an amber and is a little too malty. I can see why others like it though: it has a somewhat fruity aroma and is a strong beer although relatively smooth

Pours a nice amber body with a large head. Nice retention that brings back the froth again and again. Caramel, and fruit in the aroma and flavors of caramel as well. A pretty tastey brew, but a little too malty for an amber ale.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2012 Bottle to glass. Nice Amber pour with a white head. Aroma is sweet with a little bit of caramel. Not too good, not too bad. Pretty drinkable though

Kinda fell flat for me. Was expecting more flavor. Was told it is better on tap than in a bottle. Decent but I was expecting more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
