COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An amber ale with exceptional balance and smoothness. Brewed with a blend of specialty malts. Balanced by a choice blended of hops. True story... 1886 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, great uncle Louie was cracked over the head with a beer glass and killed. Louie’s story is one of many Wisconsin tavern legends that gives life and color to our heritage. Drink one for uncle Louie and remember: today’s barroom story might just be tomorrow’s legend.

Bottle at MoJos in Elkhorn...cloudy amber; moderate head....mild nose with slightly bitter taste...went well with the ribs; would be disappointing as a stand alone brew....just OK. ---Rated via iPad

a copper reddish color w/ a thin soapy head.. the scent was of clean hopps.. the palate was nicly carbonated and fairly smooth. The flavor was of sweeter graperfuit/hopps, and a light touch of malts and something else I couldn’t pick out .. a pretty good weak IPA.

Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of buttery, toffee malt, straw, and light citrus hops. Lots of malt in this one, caramel and toffee, while finishing with citrus bitterness. Nothing special, but a quaffable session ale. Thanks hopdog!

A thick ring was the only head atop this deep amber/caramel offering. Aroma was big on lemon with nutty malts. Lemon carries through to the flavor, with thick & sweet malts and a nutty finish. Malty and sessionable. If Louie’s actually dead, this is only a mediocre tribute.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) Sweet, malty, quite caramely, moderately bitter, reasonable balance -- that could describe the flavor of most amber ales, and described this one too, but the slight earthiness and toastiness shake things up just a bit in this amber, both in the flavor and nose. The nose also shows a bit of the expected caramely malt. Medium bodied and easy on the palate. Slightly hazy, dark amber body is capped by a small, light tan head. The head shrinks to a wide ring and film while leaving several spots of lace on the glass. This is a fine amber, maybe slightly above average, but not really all that out of the ordinary.

On tap at the Ale House. Poured a deeper reddish-amber with a dusting and a ring of off-white head. Nose was of sweet toasted caramel and some darker fruits.. odd hint of whiskey sugars.. pleasant. Flavor also picked up the toasted caramel and darker fruits along with a moderate leafy bitterness and some grainy woody notes... only a decent flow. Somewhat smooth on the palate with decently-placed bitterness.. OK, but far from memorable.

Draft at the Lakefront Marathon. Pour is a deep amber with some iced tea notes in the nose. A little hop character. Very drinkable amber with a creamy mouthfeel and some light hoppiness and again the iced tea. Decent.

Picked up a bottle of this at Ridgeview. Pours a rich amber color with lots of particulate floating about and thin white head. Aroma is of caramel, light fruit and mild hops. Taste is of sweet caramel malt, light fruit, mild citrus hops and light brown sugar. Surprisingly, this isn’t at all bad for a style that I generally don’t care for. Good job on this one.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2011 A very sharp beer, like a clean cut. A bit heavy, meaning a few of these may weight you down over the period of a night. Second rating, and I do not enjoy this. Lowering the taste, palate, and overall ratings.
