This is the last surviving beer brand from the A. Gettelman Brewing Company that SAB/Miller continues to brew. This is an old beer brand that first hit the market during the pre-Prohibition years. (1897 to be exact). Actually, today’s Milwaukee’s Best is not a bad macro-produced beer. It has a little flavor and will satisfy the light beer drinkers. Pours a light yellow gold brew with a fast dissolving white head. Aroma is very light corn bread, a very, very hint of sweet floral hops and maybe a drop of honey. Flavor is very light and clean. Finish is a little gritty but is not offensive. Though the Milwaukee’s Best brew from the early 1900s and the brew of the 21st Century share the same brand name, the recipes of the two are light years apart, Tom Gettelman once told me the recipe for Milwaukee’s Best of the 1950s (50% barley, 50% corn) which was a medium body brew. It would be interesting to have Milwaukee’s Best rated today with the old recipe.

Also horrible, but at least it’s label is red. If this is Milwaukee’s Best, I’d hate to see the worst.

Originally reviewed: 6/27/11. A 6-pack of these for $2.99? Sure, why not.
Poured one into a glass for reviewing purposes. Pours a straw gold, with an inch of foamy white on top. The nose is cheap and weak with a metallic twang to it. Slick body that goes down easily. Mild husky flavors that are spot on for this inexpensive brew. Simple. Thirst-quenching. Cheap. Most likely won’t have again, but it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever had.

24 oz can into a frosty mug.
A - Very light straw yellow body. Surprisingly a large and thick super soapy head formed.
S - Corn, grain. Sweet and simple. Nothing too offensive about it. If anything its inviting for an AAL.
T - Sweet corn water with some grainy and mineral qualities on the finish. Boring yet easy drinking. Watery mouth feel with high carbonation.
O - I can’t beat up on this beer too much. For $1.20 you get an easy drinking beer thats low on flavor. Its not offensive, and its not too corny or overtly sweet. Much better than I thought it would be.

Originally rated May 2005. Wow ! Hardly any head and no lacing at all. Medium carbonation and golden colour. Aroma of sweet malt, very light, and also water. The taste is mostly corn, found in the aftertaste. Mild sour middle. Found a small amount of grain and urine in the scent. Hated by most, I find the taste of this beer to be not too bad, but the rest makes it a cheap white trash lager.

BOAB (beer on a budget)!! cheap - refreshing - cheap. good standard fare for the bbq/fish fry. I like this one as it is a tad bit sweeter than most macro (adjunct) beers.

24oz can - pours pale gold with quickly diminishing white head and very light lacing. Nose is corn and cardboard. Aroma is a little hoppy. Taste is mildly bitter and faintly sweet. Light body and thin texture. Burpy. A very neutral beer after a few gulps. A good value.
