Bottle in Mexico City-- Pours clear amber with thin white head. Nose is very discrete. Aromas are maize, tequila, something reminding cactus, an orange peel hint. Average carbonation, oily texture. Long sour finish. Curious and original. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pleasant sweet bready malts. Orange, tiny head. Woody, maybe a bit cactussy, but very sweet. However, it’s not sticky. In fact, it’s a little watery. No sign of 7% at all. Tastes a bit old and oxidised, but I quite like that. Easily the best beer’ve had that’s had a Tequila reference in it.

Wow this beer is surprisingly good! This is what you get when you take a good base for beer and age it in one of the best hard liquors out there. Pours a deep amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma of caramel, wood, oak, tequila and a soft alcohol burn. Taste is caramel that’s a little burnt but not harsh, wood, oak, light well balanced tequila, light smoke and a smooth balanced bitterness on the finish. Finish is semi dry which finishes this beer off nicely... Pleasant surprise!

Bottle 660ml. Fridge cold. Pours a big soft head. Nice sweet hoppy smell, also honey. Soft palate, fruits, a hint of hops and a somewhat alcoholic taste where tequila might be the thing that is doing it.

Great beer, you get what you pay, the only thing I’d suggest is to include more info about the aging.

Aroma of malts, not much else. Doesn’t taste like tequila or the barrels. Too bland for me.

660ml Bottle on 23rd March 2014 in a bar inside the cruise ship terminal area of Puerto Vallarta, came with a little leaflet and two beautiful glasses, kind of stemmed bulbous bottomed flutes . Poured a semi-cloudy orange tinted amber with a beige head that hung around on both glasses. I’m no expert on Tequila or Mexican beers but this seemed different, smooth and mellow compared to anything else I’ve ever had from this country. Bordering on sweet yet with enough character to prevent it being sickly. One of the best (non Los Muertos) Mexican beers I’ve had so far.

Bottle at Valdez. Clear light brown, white foamy head. Aroma was malty caramel with woody and some dark fruit notes. Medium body, soft mouthfeel, dominated by the caramel malt backbone. Hints of both the wood and some hoppy citrus notes. Boozy, although I didn’t detect the tequila specifically. I was interested in trying a unique style. It turned out to be a little disappointing on the uniqueness, but otherwise a pleasant balanced beer.

Visual: It certainly sounds intriguing, but sadly there isn’t any more detailed info on the label (aging time, etc.). Pours light beer bottle brown with virtually no head, thin ringed retention, and almost no activity. Nose: Strong (6)-malted caramel, brown sugar. Attack: fizzy-creamy, airy Mid-palate: (3)-sweetness, (MAIN) malt, barley, (HINT) agave, chrysanthemum Finish: soft hoppy (5)-bitterness, traces of roasted piña, finishing yeasty/off-dry. Summary: It’s kind of like a drier Innis & Gunn, but with slightly less depth and roundness. Still decent though not something that wow’d me. (Note: all numbers above are on a 10-point scale, with 1 being weak and 10 being the strongest)
