Bottle at Valdez. Clear light brown, white foamy head. Aroma was malty caramel with woody and some dark fruit notes. Medium body, soft mouthfeel, dominated by the caramel malt backbone. Hints of both the wood and some hoppy citrus notes. Boozy, although I didn’t detect the tequila specifically. I was interested in trying a unique style. It turned out to be a little disappointing on the uniqueness, but otherwise a pleasant balanced beer.

Visual: It certainly sounds intriguing, but sadly there isn’t any more detailed info on the label (aging time, etc.). Pours light beer bottle brown with virtually no head, thin ringed retention, and almost no activity. Nose: Strong (6)-malted caramel, brown sugar. Attack: fizzy-creamy, airy Mid-palate: (3)-sweetness, (MAIN) malt, barley, (HINT) agave, chrysanthemum Finish: soft hoppy (5)-bitterness, traces of roasted piña, finishing yeasty/off-dry. Summary: It’s kind of like a drier Innis & Gunn, but with slightly less depth and roundness. Still decent though not something that wow’d me. (Note: all numbers above are on a 10-point scale, with 1 being weak and 10 being the strongest)

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2013 Nice clear copper with carbonation head. Aroma is tequilla, vanilla and some floral notes. Nice round mouthfeel. Aftertaste is oak, tequilla and floral. Overall: Very good, easy drinking and interesting!

Oaky and vanilla with a cheap beer carbonated hint. However goes down reasonably easy. Not a winner but not too bad.

Bottle from Carwyn cellars. Unusual. Aromas of nuts, flowers, with hint of alcohol. Sweet, with average length. Oily, medium bodied. Amber, clear.

22oz at the Beer Company, San Miguel. Pours a hazed copper with a thin head. Sweet caramel aroma with cotton candy, red apples, and pears. Not too sweet of flavors. That cotton candy flavor goes pretty well with the tequila and caramel malt. Some lingering sugar and piney bitterness. The tequila is there as you’d expect, though I could take a notch less of the alcohol and cloying bitterness. Those two qualities seem to diminish half way through. At 22oz this is a lot for a man to drink, but it is still not bad at all. 7/4/6/3/12

Hazy amber pour. Thin white head. Sweet candy apple aroma. Sweet and fruity on the tongue.. Tequila is evident but not overbearing. Soft, silky mouthfeel.. Low bitterness.

Great taste, silky palate, very silky. Taste of oak and strong alcohol in the back, maybe the tequila thing some hops aromas. Malty but in a good way. Probably the best mexican experiment of it all right now.
