Bottle, 355ml. A pitch black beer with a creamy big brown head. Aroma is of chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is what I expected from the aroma: chocolate, roasted malts and coffee, lots of coffee. It is also very heavy and bitter. Good Imperial Stout.

355ml Bottle drank inside the Cruise Ship Terminal area of Puerto Vallarta on 23rd March 2014. Impressed, smooth Stout in looks, aroma and taste. Over roasted/toasted malts rule the roost, with hints of dark chocolate and coffee within both the nose and flavour. A pleasant surprise to finish the day off before rejoining the ship (the Minerva ITA was also a lovely surprise).

Aroma is roasty with sweet malt and caramel notes. Taste is a malt body that finishes flatly. Hop additions lend to a fairly bland bitterness. Body is an almost black amber. Head is pearl with medium retention.

Bottle Pours dark brown . No foam at all , no matter how hard you try . Smell is heavy , thick , and dark . Bitter, dark chocolate . Taste is surprisingly weak . Bitter, some chocolate, some faded malts ( ’Black ’ malts ) . Very dissapointing after the scent ..

Very dark brown, very small and fully diminishing light brown head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, coffee and some caramel, roasted malt and some oat. Body is medium, malty and sweetish, coffee and some oat with roasted malt. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, coffee and some roasted malt. Sweetish, medium- bodied stout with coffee – OK, but nothing special.

Pours an opaque black with a small tan ring of foam around the glass. Aroma is strong chocolate, roasted malts, and black licorice. Flavour is bitter roasted malts, coffee, licorice, dark chocolate, watery, a little higher than I would like to see in this style for carbonation, and overall just thin. Calling this an imperial is definitely incorrect and possibly why my rating is a touch low.

Bottle. Pours black with a small, beige head. Aroma is roast, a lot of liquorice as well as dark bready maltiness. A bit syrupy with a drop of salty liquorice. Unfortunately the taste is much more one-dimensional: Roasty with some coffee, light liquorice. Some malty breadiness on the finish along with the roast. A bit too light with a lot of carbonation. Promises a lot, doesn’t deliver as much.

355ml Bottle (Thanks Omhper) - Black with a small head. Coffee, roasted malt and liquorice in the aroma. Smooth, roasted and chocolatey taste with coffee, roasted malt, plain chocolate and a hint of liquorice. Very easy to drink and very enjoyable.

From notes taken at the Edmonton Craft Beer Festival: Pours dark brown-black. Crisp start, medium coffee finish. Thin body.

Bouteille 355 mL. Torrefaction et chocolat noir au nez et en bouche. Corps moyen mais avec un léger côté crémeux. Belle réussite.
