This beer pours a dark brown with a moderate tan head and smell of toasted coffee and light cocoa. It has a pronounced roasted coffee flavour with slightly sweet cocoa notes concluding with a subtle, well balanced, hop bitterness.

Not a great chocolate stout. Chocolate did not come through very much almost a fake smell and flavor. Minhas should stick to horrible beer at good prices and leave the "craft" to those who care about it.

Dark beer with ruby glints when held against the light. Brown ring of bubbles around the edge was the only head. Sweet molasses nose with some roasted grains. Sweet beer with some white sugar, molasses and roasted grain flavors and a very subtle cocoa powder chocolate in the finish. Not very interesting.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a opaque black colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was smoky and chocolate. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of smoky mild hops chocolate and dark malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

Poured dark black with a light brown head. Initial taste of tobacco. Some light chocolate with very light hops. Not bad for $1.99 at Trader Joes. Only 5.4% abv. Initial taste is exactly what cigarette tobacco smells like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: silky looking black pour with a medium tan head (required a very rough pour) and very little lacing. Aroma: chocolate blast in your face, followed by more subdued traditional stout roast, but that’s about it. Taste: bitter dark chocolate, some milk chocolate and malted milk balls, then a rather aggressive cocoa powder dryness. Finish: dry and slightly watery, with lingering cocoa powder flavors. Notes: Completely one-dimensional, but not terrible at all. I like chocolatey stouts. Could have used a thicker, creamier palate for sure.

Brothers, rating number seven in my "Long Lost Notebook" series brings us to the Chocolate Bunny, a once elusive offering from Minhas Brewery.

The beer pours basically a black color with a very small head leaving some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is rich with lots of dark fruit and chocolate. The alcohol in the aroma is weird, but it’s not awful or anything.

The flavor is smoky and bitter with some cocoa. The graininess is husky and the beer has a sort of raw malt quality to it. The beer is overly roasty.

Seems like if Minhas wants to do a gimmick beer they should make it taste more chocolaty, maybe even sweeten it. As it stands I don’t know who the market is for this beer. I mean it’s got a neat label, but it’ll let down folks looking for a sweet chocolaty beer because it’s over roasty and very bitter without much chocolate or cocoa flavor & it lets down folks who wouldn’t mind a mildly chocolaty stout that is bitter and not sweet because it’s just sort of off balance and weird.

22 oz. bottle from Table and Vine price of $3.59. I had a good guess on what I was getting with the price. My guess was correct. That being said; nose is light dry roast with mostly chocolate powder. Taste again is no surprise here. Cocoa powder, roasted malt and roasted grain. Thin body with a light chalky texture. Overall it really met my expectations and was good for the price.

Pours ultra black with an off-white head, looks delicious. Aroma of roasted malt, maybe some chocolate.. smells a bit thin. Tastes strongly of cocoa, maybe some syrup too - fairly sweet. Palate is quite bitter, but smooth just a little thin. Good stout.

Bottle into a tulip. Pours a nice murky black with a frothy tan head that steadily fades, leaving some light lacing on the glass. Nose is bittersweet chocolate, slight hops, slight coffee and a tiny bit of smoke. Taste arrive with a bit more smoke (unexpected but not at all unpleasant,) turning to dark chocolate and coffee, dry finish. Somewhat watery mouthfeel but has very nice carbonation for the breed. A rather good chocolate stout; there are better of course but at a mere $4 CDN a bottle not many that offer this good a glass at that good a bargain.
