This is a very flavorful beer with a delightful chocolate nose and initial flavor and a roasted malt finish. If you are a fan of this style of stout, you must try this one.

Good color & slight dry cocoa powder smell. Had a few bottles left over from a dark beer tasting. Very good dark beer for those who are afraid of the dark/stouts.

Pours black with a tan head. Chocolate, caramel and malt aroma. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, caramel and dark fruit flavor. Medium light body and average carbonation. Flavor seems a bit off. Caramel and roasted malt finish.

Bomber. Clear darkest brown, thin oily mocha head. Muddled aroma of dark roast, milk chocolate, some black licorice and coffee. Taste is thinner dark roast and slick syrupy sweet chocolate and not much else. Soft carbonation, medium bodied, lightly hopped. Below average but still drinkable. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

Hazy medium brown, aroma is sort of a thin, slightly chocolatey but a bit estery stout, definitely reminding me of certain Caribbean stouts. Kinda tastes like Caribbean stout, too, with chocolate syrup, esters and a thin body.

Black pour from 22oz bottle. Cocoa milk aroma although subtle. Ccocolate taste but just seems a little fake. Average.

Disappointing. Just a really disappointing stout. Chocolate and malt, thin bodied. Meh.

Black pour with a 1 finger, creamy to oily tan head. Aroma is chocolate, odd fruity notes and some minerality. Flavor is roast, chocolate syrup, caramel, a little char and more odd fruity notes, like green bananas and sour apples. Light to medium body, very syrupy entry, light carbonation and drier, chalkier, but still syrupy finish. Meh, too sweet and pretty one dimensional, but for $3/bomber, I was expecting worse. Actually looks pretty nice.

Nice caramel color head on a pitch tar body. Wonderful flavor. Lots of coffee over tones with cacoa powder rally coming they on the tongue. Great stout. Tastes like an oatmeal stout with chocolate syrup infused. Its worse quality is exactly how sweet it is. Dark chocolate, coffee liquor flavor

6/15/14 Father's Day beer split with Barry who brought it over. Reminded me of samuel smith choc stout. Mix stout with powdered chocolate powder. Very thin

Boatswain Chocolate Stout has a thick, soapy, beige head, a very dark-brown (essentially, black) appearance, some stray, ascending bubbles appearing on the sides of the glass, and a thin lacing sheen. The aroma is of sweet, malty, dark bread, char, a touch of chocolate, and some cream. Taste is of those elements, with a mellow bitterness. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, and Boatswain Chocolate Stout finishes semi-wet and easy drinking. RJT
