2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark Mahogany Brown Red, Huge Frothy Head That Did Not Last, Decent Lacing. Aroma of Sweet Toasted Malt. Taste About The Same: Sweet Toasted Malt, Caramel, Light Bitter. Very Caramel Sugary Sweet. Surprisingly, Yet another Minhas Product that is tolerable and decent enough to drink. Then Again, just being a notch above terrible is no reason to drink it, when there are so many other choices or new beers to explore. Pass It.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a clear brown color with an off-white head that doesn’t last long. Aroma is a strong sweet malts with caramel, toasty overtone and no hops present. Taste is a simple malt flavor and lots of caramel, too much artificial sweetness. Overall it’s drinkable but too sweet.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I took a tour of the Minhas Craft brewery in Monroe, WI in late Summer 2010. As a parting gift for taking the tour they gave away free bottles of beer and fighting billy bock was one of them.
This bock pours a dark brown with a normal head of foam. For being a bock this had a much lighter flavor than most bocks. It also didn’t leave much of an after taste. Something new and different to try but probably not going to be anyone’s regular purchase.

Wasn ’t that dark and the brewery has another name. NICe and sweet quite disappointing in the other side. I thought it was going to be totally nasty.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
650ml brown bottle rebadged as Bad Hare Winter Bock. Brown pour, whitish head that flattens quickly, looks clear. Nose has mild chocolate notes, sweet caramel. Taste has faint roasted malt, caramel. Aftertaste has chocolate and cola, trace of bitterness that collapses under the sweetness. Light body, quite carbonated, lots of prickly bubbles. Unimpressive, but I wasn’t expecting much.

I’m no beer snob, I just like to try a variety of beers. My taste leans toward slightly sweeter brews, and less on high-hopped IPAs. So now that you know where my bias lies, here’s my take on this beer.
12oz bottle, about 40-45F, drank from the bottle. Smells of coffee and a bit like robitussin. In fact, the Robitussin was all I could taste at first. I came back to it when it was a bit warmer, and breathed a bit. It was much more pleasant at around 50F, with a smell of coffee and dark-roasted malts. It was a bit watery with a coffee and snappy alcohol flash. It then has a fairly smooth finish with a lingering sweet taste. It’s interesting how much the character of this beer changes with temp.
