An oversimplistic bock that heads for the sweet, malty tones with not a lot else to offer. Actually tastes more like a root beer than a beer.

This beer pours a translucent brown color with a thin off white head. The aroma is sweet, very malty with a hint of alcohol. The flavor is much the sane as the aroma. A pretty good beer, but Iíd have to be in the right mood for a lighter, sweeter bock.

Bottle. Best of the worst???? Maybe. Aromas of stale coffee, not grinds but coffee that sits in a cup over night. Some chocolate if you really dig. Almond/walnut that is way too sweet. Taste is almost not there. Thin and watery, very bland.

Tastes like a cheap macro american porter, not sure how they consider this a bock

Attractive beer...very dark brown, thick foamy brown head, bubbly carbonation. Sweet malt on the nose. Taste: Sweeter than I was expecting. Notes of brown sugar, milk chocolate, caramel, toffee and some mellow roasted malt. Appearance, taste and aroma get very high marks for me...palate on the other hand is where this loses points. This starts off so promising but then seems to fade. Body is too thin and not enough bittering hops. Seems a little unbalanced. Overall though, Iím pretty satisfied with this and I think the ratings for this are a tad too low.

This one really throws me off. Amber color with a tan head. The typical roasted malt aromas are present but this brew also has hints of chocolate and cherries. The flavor is where it really gets interesting. It has the light toffee taste youíd expect from a bock but itís overpowered by what I can only describe as a cherry cola flavor and it makes for a unique after taste. Overall this brew is surprisingly sweet and not your typical bock.

I love the smell and appearance, but the taste falls a bit short and the aftertaste does not appeal to me.

Poured from bottle, pours a nice dark brown color with thin tan head, aroma is of roasted malt and taste is of malt and a slight hint of hops to it, overall this isnít terrible but isnít good.

Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a shaker pint. Pours a nice deep ruddy auburn. Nice sized cream colored head leaves moderate lacing. Decent clarity from what I can see, the beer is a bit dark to judge clarity. Aroma is of sweet grain up front. Typical bock aroma of dextrose and dark fruit. Roasted candy sugar and slight vanilla aroma. Lager yeast is barely discernible. Aroma finishes brown sugar and molasses. No apparent hop aroma. Flavor is of deeply roasted grain and dark fruity molasses. Brown sugar, dates and prune like flavor. Slight bitterness which is most likely the roast and not hop. Fruity yeast edge add a little depth, but overall flavor is pretty one dimensional. Mouthfeel is thin and slightly watery. Not thin in a crisp way, but a watery way. Carbonation is lacking and the creaminess I expected given the nice head on the beer was not apparent. Drinkability would be better if the mouthfeel was a little better. Overall an average beer, nothing special. Better than other sub standard bocks (Shiner, etc.), that I have had before. Reviewed on: 05-07-2010

Poured a dark amber-red color with a light tan head that faded very slowly. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste of roasted malts - slightly sweet with a mild hop finish. Nice palate - decent body. Overall, not bad of a bock if you like a slight sweetness and low hop bitterness.
