COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The grand daddy of them all, Imperial Jack - robust, malty and heavily hopped. Who said "jackrabbits" donít bite?.

orange pour with white head and lace. Aroma is sweet malt with a touch of sour. Sweet musty malt with a flat non descript funky hop bitter. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. a bad day at the brewery or a bad recipe or 6 months too long on the shelf. not so good

Bomber labeled as Boatswain Double IPA at Trader Joeís. I know some unkind things have been said about this beer and I donít entirely disagree, but for two bucks Iíd rather drink this than Olde E High Gravity.

Pours with a descent head and some lacing. It is kind of a hazy amber color, cloudy looking. There are faint hints of fruit, grass and hops but nothing really stands out. Pretty smooth up front and finishes kind of bitter with a bite of alcohol. Taste flavors of fruit, sweetness, hops, a little piney and some alcohol. I think this beer is an ok beer I would drink it again. At $6 a six pack itís a good deal.

Was very disappointed in this DIPA. Was expecting something more. It was a malt bomb with not that noticeable of a hop character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Well itís not super great, itís quite cheap, probably the adage of you get what you pay for works for this one

Gross! From the smell to taste. Never again! Actually poured over half a bomber bottle down the drain. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Just plain ghastly. Heavy metallic and wet cardboard aromas. Absolutely no characteristics of an IPA. This disaster never should have been allowed to hit shelves, and Iím disappointed that Trader Joeís would sell this swill.

Didnít think this was as bad as it is getting beat up on the site. Bottle pour copper. Nose tropical fruit, bubblegum, and sweet malt. Taste big sweet malt up front, some fruit, mid palate malt candy sweetness late, some bitter in the finish. Very cloying throughout.

Boatswain Double IPA from Trader Joeís. Gave it the benefit of the doubt and let it breathe in a brandy snifter for nearly an hour. Aroma ok, molasses-caramel with banana-bubblegum esters. But it drank thin with harsh bitterness. Finish was bitter and astringent. My ratings are against other strong IPAs. Definitely better than mass-market pilsneroids.

A lightly hazed amber DIPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, very oxidized honey malt with suranated hops, orange pulp, not bad but definitely tired. In mouth, a sweet oxidized malt with grassy hops, light bilous notes, problematic. Bottle from Traders Joe on Ontario street, Chicago, in my hotel room...
