0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 1/20
This is the third beer Iíve had from Minhas brewing, albeit listed under a different label. The first two were actually so bad I returned them. This one is barely better. Resembles a double IPA only in colour. Body is watery syrup. Aroma is malt extract with not even a hint of hops. Flavour is malt extract; no grapefruit or any citrus for that matter, nothing earthy or herbal, not even one iota of bitterness. Did they even add hops to this rough bunny? Minhas has no business calling this a double IPA. Alcoholic malt water at best.

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a darker golden color with a super thick white head. Aroma is of stale and dusty hops with a little sweetness. Bubbly palate. Flavor is of metal, stale hops, and sweeter canned malts. Leaves a metallic dry hop finish. Yuk. Not boozy though for 8.5

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a bottle. Skunky aroma but settles nicely on the taste, sharp and some honey.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
650 ml labeled as "Boatswain Double IPA" Aroma is pale malt, bread, sugar and a weak herbal hop. Caramel
The flavor is is as unexciting as the aroma. I feel like the flavor isnít as bad as some of the ratings lead you to believe but surely nothing anybody is going to purchased again. Caramel base, citrus and weak herbal hints with just a lot of sugar. Way to much sugar. The bitterness doesnít really come from a pronounced hop, kind of generic bitter. I guess for the price itís ok. More like a weak attempt at a homebrew.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
650 ml bottle poured at home. Pours orange with no head. Smells like old apples. Taste has next to no carbonation and once again tastes like old apples. As many other reviews said, this is definitely not a Double IPA. Itís barely drinkable, but only because iíve had some other decent beers tonight so iím in a good mood. Could have been served at the "bad beer party" I held a couple of years ago.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at Dadís for the half marathon tasting. Pours a faintly hazed orange amber with a thin white head. Interesting on the nose, smells of banana and yeast, sticky caramel malt with a hint of hops behind it. Medium bodied, smooth and malty with more weird banana coming through. Tastes of belgian yeast. This is weird, and not in the favorable way. Long weird yeasty finish. Not a winner.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours orange with a white head. Sweeter citrus notes, light bitterness that becomes moderately astringent in the finish, some pale malts, and faint metallic harshness. Not horrible, but, yeah, not good either.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Drank as Trader Joeís Boatswain Double IPA. As an American IPA, it is a solid offering. Hoppy, but not too bitter. It does not have any of the smooth malt I expect from a double IPA though.
