Billed as Boatswain Double IPA from Trader Joeís. Nice looking amber, with nice head and retention. Clear. Nose is boring, floral, malty, light. Malty notes in the palate with some graininess. Some dryness in the finish, but thatís about it for the hops.

Drank this peice of shit for my BJCP exam... My first thought was it might be a miscategorized American barleywine... But then I realized it takes alot to brew that bad of an ipa and that it must be something from Minhas. The great small family oriented handcrafting beer for generation geniuses. Well guess what you forgot to include a significant amount of hops in a double ipa. Disgustingly sweet.

Bendrixian (989) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAR 24, 2014
Bomber bottle from Trader Joeís. Slightly hazy amber colour with fast head. Muted aroma, resinous and has a certain soapy note as well as some green apple. and a yeasty sweetness. Medium bodied brew with some bite and a little sweetness. Overall a pretty weak double IPA and flawed IPA but for $2.25/bottle I was expecting much.

Poured from a bottle shared in Pasadena it is a golden with a white head it has a citrus aroma and tastes of bitter grapefruit that resonated bitter on the palate

From a 22 oz bottle shared in Pasadena. Pours a cloudy gold with a thick off white head. Flavors of biscuit and grassy hops. Not a hop bomb -- very malt forward. Smooth and sweetish finish.

Bottle. Smells overly sweet, medicinal, even a touch sour. Looks effervescent amber in the glass with a soapy head. Overbearing metallic flavor, stale with little discernible hops, though there is some unpleasant bitterness. This is a double something, but I wouldnít call it an IPA. Over carbonated.

Iím not sure how you could make a beer this bad accidentally let alone intentionally. No aroma whatsoever. Itís best quality is that it looks like a beer. Tastes of the dankest, funkiest hops possible. If you can use leftover stems to bitter a beer this is the beer that just may have done it. I give it a 3 overall because Iím pretty sure it isnít poisonous.

Bottle from Trader Joeís. Weird but not bad. Aromas of cereal, caramel, and some liquorice. Malty, with bitter notes. Not a typical DIPA.

sold as Boatswain Double IPA in a bomber with no date. I grace what I think is the lowest rated DIPA Iíve ever had by pouring into my Duvel Tulip glass. Nose is fresh weeds that just got mowed. Harsh. Iím reminded of Eastern European malt liquor or imperial pilsners. Mellows out with each sip. Now Iím wondering how this is 8.4% ABV. Malty backbone. Sweet for 75 IBUs and surprisingly not bitter. I really wish I knew the best by date. Bobby Knight in Rupp Arena is like &%^%$$& on a silver platter.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, clear orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of cardboard, metal, some rotten veggie, acetone, butter, you name it it had it, this almost me gag even smelling it. Taste is foul, some cardboard, acetone, garbage juice and veggie with a side of butter, I dumped out about 99% of this bottle. Terrible.
