2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2008 hazy yellow, slight quickly disappearing head, not very appealing looking. nose of musty malt, grain, maybe a sniff of corn. flavor is grainy/corny, with a hint of musty malt. watery mouthfeel, musty dry finish. a pretty boring brew...it doesn’t taste yucky, it just tastes kinda pedestrian. bottle from an 8-pack from ’liquor depot’ in monee.

4.1 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a bright white head that dies a bit. I can’t place the aroma. Very sweet. Sugar cookies? Butter rum? Taffy? Homemade waffles? Either way, I REALLY like it! A perfect 10 for aroma! Flavor is buttery, yet a bit sour. But not tangy. Finish is a gritty, but after-taste is mild. Shame on you all! Lazy Mutt is under rated!

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
I bought this because it came in an 8 pack for cheap. It pours a hazy light gold that is a little disconcerting. The odor is a sticky sweet mixed with straw. Very little white head that quickly dissolves into a soapy film. Not as bad as I expected, its a little sweet, and actually has flavor, which is nice. Now that flavor? Nothing spectacular. At least it’s not like I’m drinking water.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2009 Light golden pour, very small white head. Small bubles were escaping from the bottom of my glass throughout the time I was drinking it. Aroma is a bit tart, malty, grainy and just a bit of funk. Flavor is fruity but tart. It is very refreshing, but not the most amazing flavor.

Farmhouse ales perplex me. What’s the point of a beer that smells like hay and cow shit? Pretty gross.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
I always love trying more Minhas products, they always make for a laugh. Pours a golden, almost, clear color with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Hs an aroma of malts, straw, corn, and some earthy notes. Taste is immediately of weak malt. There is also the taste of earthy hops, which makes me think this was brewed with a fatass bag of dirt in the mix. Watery mouthfeel with weak carbonation. Doesn’t taste bad, just doesn’t taste like much at all.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle. Pours a golden color with a thin white head that dies quickly to a few bubbles. Aromas are butterscotch with a bit of creamed corn. Hmm... not a way to start. Crap! Flavor is gross.. kind of a mix of butterscotch, straw, corn and cream. Geesh! This is not good stuff...

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Very little head, gone in secs; fully hazy orange-ochre beer. Sourish nose, lactic, buttery (not diacetyl, however). Straw/grains/greenmalt flavours. Buttery is diminished, compared to the nose, but still slightly sourish. Isobutyric acid, or something similar? Sweet aftertaste, weirdly straw, fatty. Very light, reasonably refreshing. This is an AFTER lawnmowing beer. Took the grass and fermented it. Tx, DA.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
12oz bottle: I was drawn to this beer because of the idea of an 8-pack, the low price and that fact that I was looking for something easy drinking for a weekend of camping over Labor Day, I wish I had consulted with the fine folks at Ratebeer first. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. The nose is pure diacytel - butter and more butter. Some creamed corn and dirty hay sneaks in as well. Yum! The body offers more of the same - dull malts, lots of butter and little contribution from either the hops or yeast. This is as far from a farmhouse ale as one can get.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from the nifty 8-pack I purchased for $6.50.
Pours a cloudy yellow with a thin, fizzy head that dissipates quickly, leaving a flat-looking beer. The flavor is mild with a hint of grain and a sour aftertaste that is somewhat refreshing, if a little peculiar.
This is definitely more of a golden ale than a saison or anything you’d expect for a true "farmhouse ale." Still, it’s a good lawnmower beer and good alternative to a macro. I prefer this over New Glarus’ Spotted Cow, and it’s much cheaper.
