radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Aug 28, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dark yellow color with a small white head that practically disappears. Aroma is sweet, with touches of caramel, honey. It’s relatively plain, but it was perhaps one of the more interesting beers that was at my disposal when I was consuming beverages. Certainly wasn’t "farmhouse" which I’m eternally grateful (not a fan of that style) - oh well, most people are more harsh when they’re rating towards a perceived style instead of the beers merits (or lack thereof). ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2009 Appearance: Pours a light, pale yellow body with a real thin, white head. Even some energetic glass swirling can’t seem to awaken it. Ah well.
Smell: Light, dull maltiness with some near non-existant floral hints. Then, there’s the butter. Yes, friends, butter. A real "what have I gotten myself into" aroma.
Taste: Light pale maltiness with some sweet cereal hints with, to my extreme dismay, a taste of unsalted butter hot on its heels. Where one might look for some pleasant fruity esters, you’ll find only odd, unnatural vegetal hints. Faint floral hops with a low, low, low bitterness. Then, sadly, it’s back to the pat of butter until the vaguely sweetish finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Low carbonation. Limp, thin mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Bad dog! Very VERY Bad dog! That’s right, Lazy Mutt, look ashamed! A beer to steer well clear of. shp555 (1677), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 8, 2009 Pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma is caramel, honey, and spoiled something. Flavor is honey, vanilla, and horrible spoiled flavor. troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Aug 5, 2009 [Bottle] Sample notes from January 2009. Pours a dark yellow color with a slight haze. Almost no head retention. A pretty sweet aroma includes light caramel and sweet syrup. The taste was much worse than the aroma. Corn, metallic, and wet paper notes were the first few things I wrote down. Light herbal finish. Very high carbonation. Very weird, and not in a good way. BrianHagmeier (257), Coralville, Iowa, USA Jul 31, 2009 This is a very drinkable beer. I don’t care what the reset of these, "want-a-be beer Nazi’s" think. I had finished the first beer (out of the kick ass 8 pack) before I had even finished logging on to ratebeer. I drank a second glass just evaluating it and am on my third as I write. Dont know about you...but I think that might mean somethen. Powertrip (182), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 25, 2009 Toasted brown Sugar, maple syrup, chocolate frosting...definitely a briar patch of the sweet spectrum in the nose. Whoops! What happened to the follow up in the mouth??? Bland, bleak and muted. Some baking powder, malt and that’s about all. Finish is sticky and pasty with hints of burnt wood. Over-carbonated as well. Like many Minhas Craft beers, a promising nose leads to total mouth disapointment. A lazy mutt indeed. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 23, 2009 "I was tricked! I thought this would be something out of some new to me brewery but it turns out that I was very wrong...
Poured out a cloudy yellowy gold brew and a small ammount of white head....THAT DIDN’T LAST! A saison should have a large cap. This had almost none at the pour, zero minutes after and zero retention or lacing. The aroma is so-so, nothing really bad. Old lemon and a bit of orange hiding behind that, odd spice, barley malt. Quite fruity. The first flavour impression is tart and mild to moderate sourness that blend immediately into a weak lemon / orange taste (nothing to impressive here), some pepper and a chunk of malt....maybe a bit of herb too. This beer has gotten better. Light medium body, ok carbonation, decent tingle on the tongue, finishes on the sour side and fades to lingering malts. Better than it was when I opened it. Still, it is total crap, one of the least appealing beers in a loooooong time. How do I pawn these off? I got 7 more to drink, dammit.
