Almost no head retention. A pretty sweet aroma includes light caramel and sweet syrup. The taste was much worse than the aroma. Corn, metallic, and wet paper notes were the first few things I wrote down. Light herbal finish. Very high carbonation. Very weird, and not in a good way. dm9831 (1168), Monee, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 17, 2008 Updated: Nov 18, 2008hazy yellow, slight quickly disappearing head, not very appealing looking. nose of musty malt, grain, maybe a sniff of corn. flavor is grainy/corny, with a hint of musty malt. watery mouthfeel, musty dry finish. a pretty boring brew...it doesn’t taste yucky, it just tastes kinda pedestrian. bottle from an 8-pack from ’liquor depot’ in monee. gws57 (1151), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 25, 2008 Found this one bottled in Belvidere, Illinois. Hazy, medium yellow pour with a thick, rapidly disspiating white head. A light, sweet head with a light, sweet flavor and not much going on. Not a huge fan of this style, and this example was no different. CaryTheDude (1114), Longmont, Colorado, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Farmhouse ales perplex me. What’s the point of a beer that smells like hay and cow shit? Pretty gross. csbosox (1086), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 15, 2008 12oz bottle. Served right out of the tall beer fridge and served in a small snifter. Lemon and grassy hops are dominant in the aroma with a backing of light pils malt, maybe a hint of candi sugar. There is an omnipresent sourness or tartness that seems a bit out of place. Initial taste is sweet, lightly kilned malt, some sort of slight adjunct, some fresh citrus, and a slight spice. Citrus persists into the finish. It’s certainly a refreshing beer and somewhat tasty. It seems like a saison with out the saison yeast. I appreciate the attempt here, but why not shoot for an authentic farmhouse ale? kmeves (1081), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 20, 2008 Pours a cloudy, highly carbonated pale golden with a smallish white film head. Aroma is sweet malt, citrus, banana and corn. Flavor is initially sweet malt with some caramel and citrus then finishes with a strange metallic wheat flavor. Very thin body. I bought this one thinking it was a Saison that I hadn’t yet tried, that is what "Farmhouse Ale" means right? SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Sep 2, 2008 12oz bottle: I was drawn to this beer because of the idea of an 8-pack, the low price and that fact that I was looking for something easy drinking for a weekend of camping over Labor Day, I wish I had consulted with the fine folks at Ratebeer first. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. The nose is pure diacytel - butter and more butter. Some creamed corn and dirty hay sneaks in as well. Yum! The body offers more of the same - dull malts, lots of butter and little contribution from either the hops or yeast. This is as far from a farmhouse ale as one can get.
