2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Trader Joe’s H.L.V bought at the new store in Pittsford, NY. Great bargain...or is it? It certainly looks good and leaves fine lacing, and it is not flavorless. But I don’t think it all comes together. Too much bitterness: a combination of roastiness and high IBUs. Not enough malt underneath. Maybe could have used a better base malt.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bomber from Trader Joe’s - pretty lame-ass strong brown, a little like an English strong - strong caramelized maltiness, more like charred/burnt - leafy bitterness, syrupy sweetness - some dark bread and dried fruit - a bit of a medicinal finish - pretty lame.
