There are times when an ice-cold beer fits the bill. This is an easy-drinking brew that’s reliably tasty without being fussy. It’s a straightforward beer with good hop flavor without it being over the top. This speaks of a simpler time when you could order a beer, and they wouldn’t bring you a full menu. They’d just bring a good beer at a good price. Life can be complicated, but your beer does not have to be. Enjoy the taste of Simpler Times.

It reminds me of the simpler times. Times when all beers were 6.2% abv. Times when beers eschewed fancy cans. Times when beers made you shudder every other sip. I’m drinking it now, and I feel like Robert Deniro in The Deerhuner. Before the war that is.

Golden pour. Small white head. No lacing. Muddled aroma of malt and vegetation. Taste is a bitter mirror of the sane.

Cereal grains with some candy/vanilla sweetness, but heavy on the corn. Pure malt throughout, not a sign of any hops. Slick and sweet.

Faint aroma of corn, grains, and sweet malt. Deep yellow color with a tan head. Off sweatness, almost artificial up front. No bitterness to blance. Undrinkable.

Can into glass...clear light copper pour with funky old malts aroma...taste is freaking horrid

This is remarkably similar to bad Polish mocne. It is like malt liquor but not quite the same. It smells like turf grass and malt syrup and tastes sweet and metallic. There are notes of cotton candy, Cap’n Crunch and oxidation on a penny. It does have nice, creamy carbonation which is something brewers who generally make beer that tastes good have trouble achieving. In this way, this beer is something of a paradox. In other ways, this beer is just bad. Take what you want from that.

Pretty decent summer time beer for the price at Trader Joes. This beer gets very cold and goes down smooth. Flavor is fresh malty sweetness.

Can - Lots of malt sweetness on this beer. Very little hops to balance the sweetness.

Trader Joe’s, cost a buck. Pours a bright orange color with a small white head. A light grainy nose, not the best aroma. The flavor reminds me a lot of cheap cider, bubbly, some sweet husky grains, slightly terrible, honey. OK. Drinkable. Longest day of the year.

I bought this at Trader Joe’s in DC pretty much to find out what $4 for a six pack would taste like. I wasn’t surprised. Sweet, canned corn, medium bodied and rough to get down.

I wasnt going to rate the Trader Joes house brand lager, but this was just so bad, so very terribly bad. Like up there for the worse beer I’ve ever had bad. Lots of malts, no balance, too sweet. But at least its 6.2% abv for dirt cheap? I’ll factor that into my overall score, but that’s it.
