1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 Powertrip (999) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 1, 2012
Single bottle purchased from a mom & pop store in Drumheller, Alberta on 06/01/2012. Colour: Light brown with minimal white head. Nose: Light drift of fresh coffee as I brought the glass to my nose. Big whiff generates huge caramel with suffocated roasted malt. Taste: High sweet, medium bitter, medium sour. There is roasted malt and hop presence enough to bring out bitterness, but the sugar is so dominant that I could not even finish the bottle. The more I drink Minhas products, the more I personally believe the Minhas brothers care only about getting their products in every genre of beer, making what money they can from it, and completely neglecting truly making quality crafts.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 burg326 (2327) - Florida, USA - MAY 31, 2012
22 ounce bottle, pours an amber color, aromas of all malt. Very little hop aromatics, really have to try to get a light citrus and light pine resin aromas. Flavors is all malt, not much hops or bitterness, did these guys call it the right name? That aside, it was an ok beer, but not true to a regular IPA style.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sherm1016 (888) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 25, 2012
22oz bottle, shared by dwm1034. Pours a deep amber color with a white head and some lacing. Aroma is light, a little hoppy, pine. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, bready, a little bitter, pine hops. Pretty underwhelming.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 dwm1034 (474) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2012

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Drake (6507) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Bomber from Trader Joe’s Glen Allen, VA. Boatswain American IPA label. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel malts and citrus hops. The taste is citrus hops and pale malts. Harsh and astringent. Thin-medium bodied with high carbonation.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 thb (609) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 20, 2012
Initial aroma upon opening the bottle is not promising, Bit of grapefruit/pine, but more something really quite off. Pours a dark amber with ample white head. Aromas is a hint of north american hops but more so bland malts and hot booze. Taste is boozy, sweet, malt heavy. Syrupy, becomes cloying quickly. Bitterness without hop aroma. Actually crosses over into being unpleasant.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 patrick767 (3169) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - MAY 7, 2012
bottle - Pours lightly hazy orange and has a mild citrus hop aroma. It’s moderately bitter at most with a touch of citrus. The malt character is subdued and not that good somehow. There’s just not much to it. It’s okay for the price but this beer is an underwhelming IPA.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 seymour (1099) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 29, 2012
Available at Trader Joe’s as Boatswain American IPA. Tasted from cool-looking 1pt 6oz bottle into nucleated pint glass, but don’t judge this book by the cover. It poured a mostly clear, deep reddish brown color with a thin but persistent off-white head and some lace. Aroma was more malt than hops, just a little mild citrus and resin, some fruity ale yeast esters and phenols. I would guess the recipe contained lots of simple sugars and was fermented warm. Definitely didn’t smell like an IPA. The flavor was inverted: zesty hops bitterness dominated the flavor, with only subtle caramelly and bready malt peeking through. An unusual balance, but not too complex. Medium body and carbonation. Sickly, sticky residual sweetness. Alcohol percentage wasn’t that high, but was nonetheless solventy and gave me a headache. Long-lasting gummy and hoppy aftertaste; make it go away! Pretty offensive, actually. C’mon Trader Joe, didn’t you taste this before agreeing to put it on your shelves?
1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 kassner (1221) - Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2012 bottle as Boatswain from Trader Joes. reddish copper color,, clear, modest head but nice lacing, pretty hhigh carbonation level, perhaps not an IPA with notes of fruits and nuts it is very drinkable at a Price under $2.
Another bottle at 4 Bucks from Perfect Pour. I am dissapppointed in the perfect pour. Not an I{PA of any type. Sort of a bad lager, with an ugly scum floating on top. Metallic and cemically pungent
