Draft. Brown pour, bit smokey, bit roasty, cold brew coffee, spice, pretty standard brewpubby porter.

On tap at Minocqua. Poured clear garnety brown with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolates with light roast upfront.. a touch of cake came across as well along with light smoke and herbal accents on the back of the nose. The flavor found lightly-roasted sweeter chocolates at the core with sour vinegar and bitter woody accents at the edges.. longer, only somewhat fulfilling finish. Medium-bodied with lower carbonation on the palate.. grainy.. the sourness threw me off a bit.

Sampled from a growler, thanks to my bro: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a small creamy froth of beige head. Has a sweet chewy dark caramel and milk chocolate malty nose. Starts with good fullness and rich sweet dark malts well balanced with some piny hops and a rich chocolatey flavor toward a drier roasty lingering bittersweet finish. An enjoyable and true to style porter.

On tap at the brewpub in the northwoods of Wisconsin, this beer pours a clear reddish dark brwn brew with a reddish brown creamy head with good lacing. Aroma of multi-grain malt, sweet chocolate, toffee and some flowery hops. Taste is smooth, creamy, with a light flowery hop aftertaste. The finish has a slight rye dryness and then flowery hop bitterness. A different type of porter with the rye malt. ALSO... ask the bartender to pour you a Minocqua Black & Tan (Pudgy Possum Porter and Minocqua M.P.A.). This black & tan picks up the best characters of both brews.

Freakin fat possums... Thanks to Skyview for carting this back. Dark brown color with a medium head. Slightly bitter chocolate aroma. Plenty of chocolate in the flavor. Kind of a chalky mouthfeel. Almost a pinch of mint. Simple but nice.

Tap pours brown with a medium tan head. Notes of bready cakey malts, coffee, and chocolate. Crisp and refreshing. Not too bad!

On tap at the brewpub - Pours dark, near opaque, with a thin tan ring of head. Smell is lightly milky and chocolatey with a bit of coffee. Moderately roasty taste, but still with the milky character. Dark chocolate finish--smooth. Pretty carbonated and a bit thin, but overall pretty enjoyable.

Poured from a growler. Thin sienna brown; watery textured with a glow of burnt yellow around the edge. Sweetened dough, yeast, raspberry and dark roasted coffee in the nose; uncreative but not off putting with a touch of wild rice. Tastes of red berries, cola, and cinnamon wood; well presented with the right balance of bitterness and sweetness. Palate is crisp and soft, medium bodied with sparkly carbonation; finishes with strawberry and raspberry leading into a lightly acrid earthy note of dead coffee. Very dry and almost papery at that point. Well made to style, if unexciting. Thanks Bob!
