GNBF. Poured clear, deep amber with a creamy beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasty caramel and nutty notes, with fresh, lightly-herbal accents. The flavor found chocolate, molasses, and toasty fruits at the core.. fresh, mostly piney bitterness around.. finished with nice balance, but with a few too many residual sugars. Medium-bodied with moderate-plus carbonation.. good feel and flow.. tasty brew.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draught during the Wisconsin Craft Beer Festival 2012 in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with a creamy off-white head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of mostly floral hops, a hint of chocolate malt and some dark pitted fruits. Taste is medium bodied, average carbonation with flavors of chocolate malt, floral hops, a hint of northwoods pine and light herbs. Finish is semi-dry, slightly spicy and grassy hop bitterness, followed by some mild lingering bitterness. Everything I expect in a Black IPA.
