4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Good lord. What an absolutely wonderful beer. Fully deserves the accolades in my opinion. Sloe-black body, dark tan head. Rich aromas of damp malt, dark chocolate, and treacle.
Luscious without being over-sticky. Flavours of the above, with soy sauce, prunes, and noticeable hop backbone. Quality from start to finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black pour with a tan head. Coffee, cocoa and roasty aroma. Taste is milky coffee, chocolate, with a slightly burnt espresso finish. It almost seems a bit this for an 8.5% beer but other than that it’s pretty nice..

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
February 18th, 2014 - The Minoh comes after a long, long day of lecturing in Tokyo, and while the deep, dark flavors were welcome, they were somewhat hard to describe after the two beers that came before it. My intuition, and distant memory, tells me that this is just a plain old strong stout. In color, aroma and flavor, the deScriptions are all plain. I smelled soy sauce and charcoal (perhaps primed by my location), and the same in the taste. And while that may not "Wow" me compared to other stout offerings stateside, beers of this strength are rare in Japan, and even in Tokyo. So to know that there is a steady stream of bold stuff available at local neighborhood grocery stores is something of a blessing. It’s all relative, but unless you’re willing to dish out serious yen at a local beer bar, this is a great alternative for relaxing at home

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (from notes). Big chocolatey nose, sweet and pleasant. Smooth and sweet all the way through, with more chocolate and rich dark fruit. Warming alcohol. A bit one dimensional, though. Body is also a bit thin for the style. But this is one of the better ones that Minoh makes.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 9, 2016 On tap at Watering Hole. Part of a tasting flight. Deep black with a creamy tan head that lasts throughout with great lacing. Huge coffee and chocolate aromas with some tobacco, soy sauce and dark fruit that comes out as it warms up. Creamy on the palate with nice balance between sweet, tart and bitter. Full bodied and rich with a nice long smooth finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
on tap at beer belly tenma, osaka. Pitch black with creamy tan head. chocolate and mild roasty flavours. slightly sweet with lingering bitter finish. medium body and medium high carbonation. lacing. This is a very drinkable imperial stout. I struggle to get through a half pint of most but I could have multiple of these. it?s a refreshing change for an imperial stout and very well done. Very nice stuff.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, dark brown. Messy, bubbly, lasting, light brown head. A bit viscous, and leggy. Alway a good sign. Coffee bean. 70% + dark chocolate. Quite tart, in other words. Some soy. Some savoury. Drinks rich, tart, smooth, with some nutty sweet redeeming qualities. Full bodied, with light carbonation. Finishes dry, light tart, and light, nutty, roasty bitter. Big beer, that’s very drinkable.
