A pleasant weizen. However I prefer weizen to have full-on, banana and clove spice flavours, and the flavours in this were more muted. Not necessarily a bad interpretation of the style, and it had just the right amount of carbonation i.e. not too much, but just unfortunately not quite what I am looking for from a weizen as in it was a little too subtle for me.

Lovely green banana aroma. Deep banana flavor, apple tart. Very well rounded Weizen, a wonderful Minoh classic.

I’ve had this several times and it is a solid weizen made in Osaka. You’re typical cloudy gold pour with a fluffy white head. Mild spicy sweet aroma and a light refreshing spicy weizen taste. Pretty average but nice.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Beer Belly, Edobori. Notes from tasting session. Pleasant tropical fruit bouquet. Medium straw color. Synthetic, sort of artificial mild banana flavor. Thin body, too thin, actually watery. Okay.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2013 Tap at Edobori Beer Belly. Pale yellow, cloudy with white head. Aroma is wheat and a bit of lemon. Also slight herbal element. Taste is creamy malts, wheat and a touch of spice. Fizzy in mouth and nice texture. Gets creamier the further you go down the glass. Not bad. Re-rate 21/6/13. Aroma this time is creamy and a bit fruity, maybe sour plum or peach, spicy and hint of banana. Taste is a bit flat, creamy banana with a bit of spice again.

33 cl bottle @ hotel room, Hiroshima. 5% version, bottled 19.3.2011, BBE 02.11.2011.
Aroma is yeasty with some wheat and banana esther. Palate feels floury and a bit light. Flavour has some sweetish and ripe banana, wheat and yeast. Average.

Tasted at the brewery from 33cl bottle. Good workaday weizen that does all it should but is not a classic.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma: Light smoke and BBQ, malt, some biscuit and banana notes.
Palate: Fairly well balanced
Flavor: light smoke, banana, some spice.
Comments: This was a smoked version that was aged for 9 months. Not sure whether this was distributed or just a small experiment. I preferred their aged Weizenbock.
