goldtwins (3721), Nesconset, New York, USA May 10, 2006 Thanks to the person who brought this to DL06. Clear amber color with a medium beige head. Big piney and spice hop aroma. It was like rubbing my nose on a tree. Plenty more hops in the flavor like a big ole spruce tree. Caramel maltiness underneath. Moderate bitterness on the finish. Silky mouthfeel. I am glad I decided to try this. tjthresh (1275), Greenfield, Indiana, USA May 3, 2006 Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Served in a English pint with no head. Nice looking amber/red with no visible carbonation. The Simcoe is the feature in the beer for sure. Cara and toasted malts fight to get through, but the hops beat them down good. Pretty average drinking beer, but one the the best I’ve had here in a while. BBB63 (3767), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 21, 2006 On tap at brewery, served in standard pint glassware: A nice carmel hue topped by a mostly lasting head and left nice sticky lace. The aroma has notes of grassy, herbal and slightly piney hops with a mild roasted malt breadiness. Some citric character and a touch of pepper found on the nose.
The beer taste fresh and clean with a level headed dose of Simcoe hop added to the toasty malt. A dash of piney bitterness rounds off the finish and displays nice balance and smooth drink ability. <p. A wonderful session beer, when I had two pints you know it is good. A growler will be showing up at a Ratebeer gathering soon.
