not a huge fan, but not bad either. this amber/alt is reminicent of Alaskan Amber, not quite as good. low level hops and light malt. uneventful taste.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
This was poured into a pint glass and a stange.
The appearance had a glossy amber color with a one finger white foamy head in the pint glass and a two and a half finger white foamy head in the stange. Both had the same foamy stringy lacing after the head died.
The aroma smelled the same in both glasses: light cooked fruity slightly caramel breadiness over top of a herbal grassiness.
The taste followed the aroma, it was pretty much the same.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was okay for the style and for me. There’s a light toasty edge rolling over my mouth.
Overall, decent altbier I think I could do again, its nothing special, but nothing bad.

Felt like I got hints of prune on the taste when first drinking. Not the style of Amber that I enjoy, feels less amber and more pruney.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pale amber colored beer with a small white head. Fruity malty caramel aroma with a very small hint of hops. Semi-sweet caramel flavor with a touch of bitterness from the hops.

3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The beer has only a mediocre appearance and head, the aroma being feint and similar, but it sits delicately on the palate and washes down easily. I would have scored the beer higher if the aroma and appearance measured more evenly with the more superior palate and taste.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Appearance looks nice, but nothing jumps out as outstanding. A middle of the road red color. Not a lot of head. A very light taste for am amber and it for lack some depth. Not bad for a complimentary drink for sipping, but definitely not the main course.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Bev 4 Less: Caramel and a tea brown color with a fluffing of foamy head. Aroma comes up empty with no real stand out scents for me to mention. The flavor is the same with only a small caramel malt and honey. Very boring and bland and I had a hunch before I even bought it but I figured let me try it out anyways.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
April 27th, 2012 - As I moved down Mission Brewery’s tasting list from blonde to brunette, I detected a distinct decline in quality. This was paired with being denied water (bottled water was available at a price, though), as well as some more-than-tipsy folks bumping our table somewhat regularly in the pursuit of a high action shuffle board game. The environment may have conditioned my reaction to the Amber in front of me, but I am skeptical. Chocolate brown, and with a light head, it gives off an aroma of cashews and nuts, and dotted with a light maltiness. On the plus side, it features a robust hoppiness, giving it a flavorful edge that a lot of ambers lack. But the aftertaste is abrupt and short, and most of the rest of the flavor is dominated by pistachios, especially in the aftertaste where the hops retires, leaving the unappetizing solitude of off-tastes and nut flavors. Another excuse for the negative tasting may be at the Amber followed the much heavier and fuller flavored Hefeweizen. Whatever the case, this is, for a brief moment, an tasty amber, before swiftly collapsing into a heap of unpleasant flavor.
