COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kolsch-Style Ale. Our Blonde ale is a crisp and refreshing golden ale. Modeled after the kolsch-style ales from Cologne (Köln), Germany, our blonde ale has a clean, lager-like character, and a smooth, balanced bitterness. The authentic kolsch yeast strain provides a subtle fruitiness, which compliments the Liberty and Hallertau hops used for flavor and aroma. 20 IBU

Poured draught at Stags Head NYC. Pours clear gold with thick white foamy head. Faint citrus smell with some floral notes. Rereshing lager-like taste, slightly bitter but fairly balanced. There is a light sweetness in taste but very drinkable. Nice kolsch.

Very similar to a wheat. Tastes yeasty. Nicely full bodied. There is a corn adjunct flavor which makes it taste cheap. i cant remember having another kolsch, but if this is representative im not a fan.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a standard conical pint glass. Light yellow to straw in color, almost crystal clear, medium head of white foam subsiding quickly into a thin veil. Aroma is faint malt, grass, maybe a bit of bread, very approachable for someone in the mood for something light. Flavor is slightly sweet and slightly malty and nicely balanced with bitterness on the way to the finish. It has a medium light body and the carbonation is just on the light side of medum. It finishes clean and slightly dry. I like it and think I will get a sixer. I think I would enjoy more if it had a bit higher carbonation.

12 oz bottle. Cereal, corn, and a little citrus in the aroma. It’s a golden color and pours out with a thin white head on top. Sweet and bready flavors, with grainy notes, corn husk, and light hops. Crisp enough on the back end. It’s a fairly basic beer but refreshing and easy drinking. And sometimes that’s all I’m really looking for.

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a bit hazy, slightly dark yellow appearance with an off white head. Crisp, fairly grainy, dry, fairly mineralic, grassy aroma. A bit chewy, big cracker, chewy malty, herbal flavor. Kind of like sucking on a saltine cracker without the salt. Far better than most American-made Kölsch. Honestly, maybe the best American-made Kölsch I’ve ever had. Easily chuggable.

Pours remarkably clear and light. If not for the thicker white head, you might have trouble telling this from a macro lager just from the sight. The aroma is mostly grass and straw with some faint grape and peach in the background. Flavor isn’t particularly strong, but the grass and straw flavors and fruity notes come through. Finishes a little dry. I don’t dislike this, but I don’t know if I’d have it again. The flavor isn’t bad, there just isn’t much there.

Not a bad beer and one that might make for a good session offering, but not really much to set this one apart either. Pour is a muted yellow with white, quickly fading head. Nose is a bit of yeast and hops and a touch earthy as well. Flavor is crisp and clean, lightly bitter --- decent and unoffensive without being all that memorable.

An above average blond, with a decent hop/malt balance, a bit of tangy bitterness, and some dry toasted bread notes. Pretty darn good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
