3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle - Pours amber with a light tan head. It smells of hops with citrus and resin characteristics. The flavor adds caramel malt to fairly high bitterness of the citrus and resinous hops. I quite enjoyed this full bodied brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Another genre crossing beer. Lots of hops, in both aroma and taste. Amber/reddish body, light head, sharp hops bite, some malt. High abv hides well in the mix

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
18th March 2014: on-tap, Hopping Pig, San Diego. Pours a dark terracotta red with a light cream coloured head. Nose is a blend of citrus notes and malty molasses (caramel and toffee mostly). The taste is also a good blend of the aforementioned smells, it has a fine citrus bite which sits on a bed of malty sweetness and the combination works well, with the alcohol just about showing through the flavours. I liked it.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bomber into a glass. Pours a deep ruddy amber, off-white head. Aroma is pleasant. Grass, caramel, a bit of cereal, citrus, a bit of booze. Taste is..well..this bottle was obviously a bit skunked. But before the skunk hits it’s all right. Definitely hugely bitter, a bit of booze burn, intense citrus, but also a lot of citrus. The kind of mess you would expect from an "Imperial Red IPA."

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma of toffee, spicy rye, slight woodiness, malted caramel, earthy hops and malted barley. Appears crimson red with a faint foam rim and nice alcohol legs. Taste is earthy hops with a good amount of spice upfront followed by notes of herbs, cracked pepper, caramel, slight buttery biscuit malt, and a touch of molasses. Overall, for an imperial red, it’s a bit light bodied and bland but it’s not bad. Just wish there was a bit more body to it. B- rating.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap sample. Poured hazy copper with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex hop and toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a hazy amberish dark orange with foamy off-white head. Smells of hops and sweet malt with a bit of toastiness, spiciness, and booziness. Some caramel too. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A bit boozy, but a solid example of the style nonetheless.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at home. Snifter pour is a muddy brown amber with a slight head. No real lacing. Aroma is bread, pine, cardboard, fruits, and malts. The taste is rather bitter with caramel, brown sugar, paper/cardboard, bread and pine. It somehow wasn’t very well balanced and smooth. Finish is kind of bitter and sweet at the same time. Not the best, but not a drain pour either.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Meh...below average beer here. Aroma was decent. Slightly smokey with caramel, roasted malt and must. Pour was a dark burnt orange with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was kind of boring. Somewhat sweet and sticky with the malt and hops very muted, but balancing each other out. I was shocked to see this was 10.2% as I was drinking it. Doesn’t have that much flavor to assume this beer had this much alcohol. Mild carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, tangerine, pink grapefruit, pine and earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, earthiness and pink grapefruit with a smooth dry moderatly bitter lingering grapefruit finish.
