The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

22 bomber to cervoise. Pours black with brown ringed head. Aroma of Hershey’s syrup, oak, light cinnamon, marshmallow, coffee and caramel. Taste is same with slight whiskey heat, raisins, grenadine, and some smoke. The finish is a little brash with booze, and cough syrup-like grenadine. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy, oily...with light carb.

FROTHINGSLOSH (6641) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 23, 2015
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with an exceptionally dark brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was strong toasty malts, anise, whiskey, chocolate syrup, marshmallow and floral hops. The flavor was anise, whiskey, wood, chocolate syrup, marshmallow, port wine adn crisp floral hops. Intense and strong flavors. Long finish. Full body - thick and creamy. Fantastic.

Pours jet black with a dense tan head that leaves lacing, very thick and rich. Chocolate syrup, creamy coffee, nutty, licorice, roasted grain aromas. Pretty dry overall, not too sweet, the hops aren’t too aggressive, the right amount of bitterness. Has notes of raisin, plum, and brandy. Soft carbonation, rich mouthfeel, full bodied, creamy and oily texture, bittersweet finish. Very nice, would repeat.
