The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

355 ml bottle. BBE 12.02.2015.
Pours pitch black color with a small beige head, quite thick oily texture. Lots of roast notes on the aroma, dark chocolate, cocoa, some wood notes also. Roasted malts and cocoa powder on the flavor, dark chocolate, some sugary notes and faint coffee. Alcohol doesn’t come through that much. Being slightly out-dated doesn’t show here either. Bitter dry, yet creamy full palate, rich. Nice slow sipper.
