The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Nice dark color that keeps most light from passing through except at the edges. Thin head. Coats the glass nicely. Nice sweet malt and roast on the nose. Good viscous mouthfeel. Good balance of bitterness and residual sweetness. No hot alcohol. Overall I enjoyed this beer quite a bit. I think it’s an excellent representative of the style

Bottle poured a brown so dark it has a black hue w/ a dark brown medium frothy head. Big roasty aroma of molasses and coffee. Initial flavor is moderate sweet with a moderate bitter from the heavy roast. Tastes are molasses, brown sugar, espresso, and dried prunes. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and alcohol in the finish.
