3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 HopRedHead (120) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 18, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours pitch black with one finger of dark tan head which quickly fades. Thin lacing that lingers for the duration of the drink. Nose presents roasted coffee, chocolate icecream and vanilla with a touch of raisins. Also a soy-esque hint. Flavour is sweet, like a chocolate fruit syrup with an oily thickness to match. Lingering soy and espresso taste. Nice dark-sweet bitterness. Chocolate and raisin flavours extrapolate as the beer gets warmer.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 natejgood (363) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 15, 2013
This beer pours black and thick. No other way to say it. And it has a nice dark coffee colored head to boot. Aroma of dark fruit and molasses. Extremely smooth and viscus in the mouth. Flavor of brown sugar and dark fruit with just a hint of alcohol. For the amount of flavor in this beer it is dangerously drinkable. Very good example of the Russian Imperial Stout.

Bomber from Hayduke. We had it together via facebook chat. This beer poured an angry looking black used motor oil with an equally angry looking head. I love how this looks. The second pour was even better than the first. A surprising aroma of dark fruit with roasted notes behind. Interesting. The flavor brought out that fruit along with the roasted notes and Bosco Chocolate sauce. Maybe I should pour this beer over ice cream. This was dangerously easy to drink. Very tasty and so rich and smooth in the mouth. A real winner here.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lukaduke (1013) - Portland, Maine, USA - APR 14, 2013
Pours a rich thick black color with a deep dark brown foam that sits about three fingers off the beer. Aromas are soft roasted chocolate, malt, marshmallow, brown sugar and a little roasted fig. On the sip it follows the nose nicely with a rich round marshmallow backbone that smooths out the deep dark fruit, chocolate and earthy coffee notes. Nice tasty stout !

Inky black pour with a thin khaki head. Nice nose of roasted dark chocolate and molasses, a gentle whiff of smoke, and some light earthy soil. Flavor is a little on the roasty side but still retains a lot of that chocolaty sweetness from the nose, albiet a bittersweet dark chocolatiness with lots of cocoa and earthy licorice. A bit heavy and roasty bitter, but not shabby.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 3fourths (6943) - Straßgiech, Bavaria, GERMANY - APR 5, 2013
bottle. deep brown body with a shallow light brown head. fudge cake malt-forward nose of roast and chocolate malt with light char, mild alcohol and a succulent medium-low american hops. very full and frothy carbonation with a rich, round, full flavor of creamy, melting bitter dark chocolate. lush German chocolate cake richness coupled with tangy hop acid, the balance here is about right where I want it. I’m sort of perplexed by this brewer; the IPA was good for the style, the weizen and kolsch passable, but this is a pretty delicious and clean imperial stout that sticks out in a word full of over-sweet, over-hopped booze bombs. the first bottle reminded me of some good batches of Green Flash Double Stout, the second try here is pulling memories from The Butcher from Societe. but that’s probably just me associating California, who knows.

22 ounce bottle from the Holiday Wine Cellar. Pours a deep black color, oily, a medium brown head. A sweet fruity and roast nose. The flavor is big dark fruits, dark cherries and plum, a bit of smoke and ash, big deep roast and more dark fruit. Very sweet, not too dry. Quite good.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 That1Guy (1747) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 3, 2013
12 oz bottle pours an oily pitch black with a dark brown, foamy head. Dark roast, chocolate, some sharpie marker, licorice, and a hint of DMS. Slick, oily mouthfeel. More licorice, red apple, some burnt wood in the flavor, with a warming alcohol burn going down. Decent but unspectacular.

31st March 2013 Tasting at ChrisOs. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is softish and airy. Rich malt. A little unsweet dark chocolate. Spicy licorice. Softish and semi dry finish. Fine.
