The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted dark chocolate aroma. Medium to heavy toasted dark malty flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer.

Bottle. The look is dark, oily, black in color, with a thin tan head. The smell is rich, molasses, dense dessert, plum, dark chocolate, cocoa, slight roast. The taste is roast, plum, malts, coffee, and chocolate.

Yes, big bad impy stout that is on style all the way. Had on tap at the bocktown monaca. Oily looking brew, reminds me of old worn out oil from my 73 plymouth duster 318. Big over the top stout impact. Difficult rototilling thing messing up mu buds. Alky is not well hidden, wew. Big long bitter sensations on the back of my throat will not gop away. Way too stong for any girly budded lager laver.

Sample from a 12oz bottle, thanks to alexsdad06. Pours black as night with a good brown head. Some loose lace. Big dark fruity and molasses nose. Bigger, chewy body. Lighter carbonation. More dry, no lingering sticky syrupiness. Nice dark chocolate roastiness. Little coffee. Good bitter taste, long roasty coffee chocolate aftertaste. Nice russian imperial stout.

Wow, I’ve found another favorite. This is a solid stout with bold and balanced flavors. Intense in an excellent way. Up there with my favorites Alesmith Speedway, Port Old Viscosity, Oskar Blues Ten Fiddy, Firehouse One Tun and Green Flash Double Stout.

Pours a viscous inky black with one finger of chestnut brown head. The nose shows burnt sugar and dark coffee and fig. Very roasty with a mild acidity. Full bodied and sharp/acrid flavor. Blackstrap molasses and bitter chocolate.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black with a thin mocha head. Aroma is heavy chocolate. Taste is a really nice balance of chocolate, roast, and a touch of coffee in the aftertaste. Very thick on the tongue but it is nice. Really impressed, will look out for more of their offerings.

Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Thick, black pour with brown head. Milk chocolate and roasted malt aromas. Bittersweet milk chocolate flavor with dark roasted malt and hints of espresso. Slight alcohol burn. Full body with minimal carbonation and a silky mouthfeel. Very good. Thanks Craig.
