3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, shared with Robbie & Parksy post-RBAG 2014. Hearty near-black with red-brown highlights. Highly roasty, a bit of soy sauce, bitter chocolate, low residual sugars. Quite nice.

Only the 4th Imperial Stout Iíve ever tasted but, sorry to say, itís the worst of my list.
Had a lasting bitter coffee taste that just wouldnít go away. Not my cup of tea.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In short: A highly roasted easy to drink stout like many others. Ok.
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed with a few months on it.
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention.
In long: Nose is scorched cereals, burnt coniferous trees, light coffee notes. Thatís a lot of roast in the aroma. The well carbonated body has a grainy texture and is not as rich and corpulent as I like a near 10% beer to be, but thatís often the case with such highly roasted beers. Taste is also dominated by roast, so roasted that it falls into vegetables territory. All that roast is backed by black liquorice, some molasses and dark fruits concentrate. All that roast is pretty good at hiding the sweetness. And with the low sweetness sensation, the medium body and no alcohol presence this beer feels like a 6% stout. All in all a decent stout, just a little too much on the vegetable side of things for me to give it a better than Ďokí rating. Another beer, I drink too much, the only way Iíll ever be considered a role model is if there is I am asked to wear rolls and parade in front of people.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours boot black and viscous with a finely bubbled mocha head that fades quickly to a rim. A bit of lacing. Aroma is is burnt brown sugar with a faint hint of booze. Taste is burnt toffee, caramel and chocolate with a booze and bitter coffee finish. Less chocolate/more roasty; chocolate and alcohol flavors rise with warming. Thinner and shorter of flavor than I expected. Good, but not great.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very interesting, heavy port dark fruit flavors, kinda reminds me of what Dark Lord used to be before the ABV hike, very impressive.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Havenít had an impy stout in a while. Pours thick black with thinner brown head. Smell is dark chocolate, sweet toffee, some booze, slight licorice. Taste is medium sweet, some booze as it warms, swirling dark and semi sweet chocolate, minor anise and dark fruits. Nice velvet palate . Nice surprise here.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is chocolate, coffee and heady tobacco. I feel like smoking a cigar right now to accent my experience. The pour is black with a russet head that decided not to stick around too long. A very thick, oily body with a nice average carbonation. Not too boozy, just right with the afterward fading to a light reminder of the brew. If I had access to this Russian Imperial Stout again, I would find it again and make it mine.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft in The Hopping Pig, San Diego on 18th March 2014. Really black with a lasting beige crown. Sweet and sour nose, Roasted malts, over roasted malts actually with liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate and a vinous under-smell. The taste was very similar with a slight fruitiness within the mix. The alcohol was almost hidden. Good body depth and a fine Imperial Stout (not that I have had many to compare it with).
