COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Bottle thanks to my brother for my birthday! Pours an opaque black with thin ring of tan lace that doesn’t really stick. Aroma was grant on the booze or of the gate, but as it warmed chocolate and roasted malt came out nicely. Taste was chocolate with no real hint of the booze, coffee as it warmed up. Nice, nothing crazy but definitely solid.

Bottle (from frima bier?). Pours dark brown-black with light brownis head. The head stays. Aroma is vodka like booze, roast, dark chocolate, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, booze, roast, dark chocolate, malt, sugar, caramel, booze. Finish is rather intense hoppy-roasty bitter. Did I say it’s boozy?! Drinkability is ok-ish. Overall: this would probably get better rating from me, but drinking this after the fantastic Wild Beer Wildebeest it feels like a real big step backward (and they are both rated the same - 99 currently int RB). This is really really boozy (not in a good way) and simple compared to the Wildebeest. Gets better as it warms up, but still rather simple and boozy brew.

Bottle 35,5cl. Pitch black with a small brown head. Liquorice and coffee aroma. Very intense. Really nice rich taste. Espresso, dark chocolate. Great beer. Not sweet but nicely hopped. Long finish.

0.355l bottle. Yeah, it’s undoubtedly a dark black oily one this. On top there’s a super creamy but fading beige head. On the nose it has lots of marshmallows, roasted goodness and it’s quite on the sweeter path. Some woody tones, chocolate for sure and a little sweet licorice thing. Smells nice. It doesn’t taste bad eiter this. In the mouth it’s nice and oily and it’s soft on the carbonation. Much more licorice in the taste. The salty good kind, next along with espresso coffee, bitter cocoa beans and vanilla hints. It’s a really flavorful one, dark and perfect for sipping. Nice. 18.12.2015

Aromat: palony, czekolady, melano, lukrecji i sporo estrów (śliwki, banany). Może nie przytłaczają, ale są wyraźne. Alkohol także obecny, jednak nie przeszkadza.

Wygląd: barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, umiarkowanej wielkości i szybko opadająca. To najsłabszy punkt tego piwa. Nieco oleista konsystencja.

Smak: umiarkowana słodycz, złamana kwaskowością, melano, kakao, czekolada, paloność, ale subtelna, bardziej nuty opiekane, no mocno spieczone.

2016-05-03. Black body, small tan head fades. 3++ Aroma is moderately alcoholic, dark malt. Flavour is pleasant, sweet dark malt core but lots of bitter cocoa roast. Finishes on the dry side, lingering cocoa roast in the finish. 7++ Average plus to medium bodied palate, good carbonation. 3+ 7/3/8/3-4/15-16 Bottle at Drink LA, LAX.

Bottle. It pours black with a small beige head. The aroma is bit sugary with ripe fruity notes. Some roasted notes. Boozy and roasted flavor. Light ash and licorice. Bitter roasted finish.
