COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Draught at Eureka Burger. Pitch black with a tan head. Sweet roasted malt aroma. Sweet malt flavor with some caramel and chocolate. Hops and bitterness are mild. A little dried fruit and plum flavors and some savory, almost shoyu-like hints as well. Definitely a Sam smiths style RIS. Not my kind of stout though. This needs lot more hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, liquorice, chocolate, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, liquorice and chocolate; ends slightly bitter with roasted malts and coffee.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Could have been better and misses umph factor.

Pours black color, slightly clear, with foamy brown finger head. Aroma: intense dark roasted malt aroma, which takes on roasted, dark, bittersweet chocolate, cocoa powder...dark fruits like prunes, plums. Flavor: intense dark, roasted malt flavor, with notes of espresso coffee, cocoa powder, bittersweet chocolate, roasted, hint of licorice when it get warmer, port wine, supported with fruity esters of hops, which takes on dark fruits. Finish is roasted, slightly bitter dry. Body is moderate full, texture is silky smooth, carbonation is low.

Bottle, pours black with a tan head. Lots of liquorice and molasses, you can even smell the stickiness... Light nutty notes, sugar, bay leaf. Sweet and sticky, full body, boozy finish with, again, sticky sweet liquorice. Very nice, but a bit sweet and boozy and one dimensional.

Black with a brown head - Good dark malt aroma - Dark roasted malt body with some chocolate and coffee with some bitterness and there is some alcohol heat in the back - The dark roasted malt and chocolate goes into the finish with some bitterness - This was good

Bottle. Pours a jet black beer with a small amount of light brownish head on top. Aroma has loads of molasses and licorice with laurel. Very strong and boozy aroma and flavor. Very sticky and sweet moutfeel, very cloying with loads and loads of molasses and sugar in there. Full bodied, long sweet sticky finish. A bit unbalanced, too sticky but still quite nice.

Small beige head. Opaque black body. Earthy chocolatey toffee aroma, very smooth, with syrupy nougat notes. Sweetish mealy chocolatey toffee taste with roasted oily notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Sweetish earthy cold coffee and toast aftertaste with oily burnt mineraly notes. Lovely! Very smooth and harmonic. (0.355l bottle, I forget where from.)

Bottle in Rome-Italy, courtesy of Mortlach. Grazie Morty. :-) Pours black, incredible brownish cap. Nose: chocolate, dust, some leather. Mouth: clean, watery, fresh roast maltiness with a decent grassy bitterness. Just tasty!
