COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Very interesting, heavy port dark fruit flavors, kinda reminds me of what Dark Lord used to be before the ABV hike, very impressive.

Outstanding. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee with hints of dark fruits, pours thick black with an espresso style lasting head, flavours of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, cask wood, port with a great bitter aftertaste, warming full bodied thick stout.

Idiosynkrasie (4361) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - FEB 27, 2015
355ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, brown head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of liquorice, hints of soy sauce, dark chocolate, burnt coffee, a metallic touch. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, bitter hoppy, slightly burning alcoholic, some dark chocolate, some coffee; slightly metallic finish, maybe oxidation had a finger in the pie. Looks like having an oily texture, but leaves behind a light and thin impression on the palate.

Bottle @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, dark roasted malts, coffee, coffee roast, slightly earthy. Taste malts, roasted malts, lightly coffee, a touch of espresso, medium to heavy bitter. Moderately thick, moderately oily texture, roasty bitter finish, medium body and suitable carbonation. If you like roasty imperial stouts like I do, this is one you’ll enjoy. Can anyone please get me the bourbon barrel aged version? That’s gotta be even more awesome!

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This inky black beer pours with an extremely thin dark brown head. It has rich chocolate and vanilla flavours, cherry and raspberry notes with an oaky, creamy whisky-like finish. Excellent!

Scopey (7869) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 8, 2015
Bottle from Ales By Mail. It pours jet black with a tiny tan head. The nose is rich earthy roast, coffee, liquorice, burnt toffee, ash and charred toast. The taste is smooth, roast malt, dark chocolate, espresso coffee, earth, charred wood, light alcohol warmth, pepper and a touch of dark fruits with a roasty finish. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and oily body. Well rounded and very drinkable for the style. Nice.

355 ml bottle. Pours a pitch black colour with a small beige head. Aroma of rich roastiness, burnt biscuit, plum sweetness and some espresso. Flavour is very strong with dark burnt roastiness, espresso, mild wooden tartness and also some berries. Alcohol warms just a bit. Full bodied. Thick mouthfeel. Luscious.

Bottle Rehills Newcastle. This pours so thick and black and the tan head disappears very quickly. Big alcoholic aroma, plummy and vineous, sour notes, combining with background roast, chocolate flavours and bitter fruit. Pretty damn big.
