3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Date tasted: July 6, 2013... Glassware: weizen glass... Occasion: mucho food o at Jim and Maria’s annual 4th (6th) of July party....Appearance: thick, foamy head that recedes to a single finger of white cloud; body is sunset orange with thick chunks of sediment sailing up and down its coast--a yeasty depot at the glass’s bottom... Aroma: banana and clove, as the bottle promises; yeasts are soft, less doughy than expected... Palate: medium-bodied, teethy impact on the mouth; a pleasant presence that doesn’t dominate--acidic, too... Taste: VERY subtly in its profile; the banana acquiesces and the clove is a gentle tickle at the throat--no problems, but not outstanding... Overall: smooth and useful, this hefe is indeed NOT a lemon-suds extravaganza, as its label warns its peers have become; its heft and subtlety make adding a lemon possible but negotiable; can’t see this on par with any real German offering, but the price was right....

Have had served in glass before but drinking this one straight from long neck bottle for review. Aroma sour with hints of fruit and yeast. Taste is sour and tangy with notes of sour fruit malts and yeast. Sorta a sour taste overall.
Can not find a born on or best by date on bottle. Maybe I got these from a skunked case or maybe they are supposed to taste like this, IDK, but they are not to good. Have had a few other selections from this brewery including the IPA which was ok.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 2/9/15
Aroma: The nose is citrus, yeast, and wheat, but with something slightly off
Appearance: An orange colored beer with a quick dissipating off-white head and mild, drippy lace
Flavor: Flavor-wise, this one has a saison yeast, spice, wheat, and some sweet malts
Palate: The body is light, with a lively-to-fizzy carbonation, and a mildly dry finish
This wasn’t my favorite of the style, but it worked decently. I’ve certainly had many many better hefes. There is too much carbonation here. It is on the poorer side of the examples of this particular style.
