A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

Decent sized sample poured by the breweries Southern California Market Manager Jenny Ramos during a Beer and Indian food evening in The Clay Oven, irvine, Orange County on 14th July 2014. Red hue to this brew, the head off-white and clingy. Malty front in both the nose and taste, the hops are there as well though and come through loud and clear with a mild citrus feel to their flavouring. No expert on this style/type of beer but I liked this one.

Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique April 2013. A real tongue stripper this one with plenty of flavour and big hop dose and a bit alcohol kick in the finish.

Draught @ Pub Winston, Pienpanimo Olutjuhla. Pours a dark amber orange colour with a small head. Aroma of sweet caramel notes, bread and some gooseberry bush. Flavour of sweet malts, heavy caramel, gooseberries, bread, floral hops and some some grainy notes. Medium bodied. Alcohol warms. Not as fresh as it should be.

Flaske: Lysorange let diset øl med et stort skumhoved. Duften er diskret citrus og en smule agurk. Smagen er igen velhumlet let urtet med et fint humlebid. Ok øl.

Not my favorite double ipa. could be an old bottle for sure as it had some classic oxygenation aromas. hops were a bit astringent over a too malty, almost syrupy body. a bit of alcohol heat as well. i like mission breweries beers, so i’ll chalk this on up to poor storage and get a fresh one from the brewery next time i’m in town,

355 ml bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori. No freshness info.
Pours clear golden color with a small head. Resinous hops and orange on the nose, mild grassy and malty notes. Very fruity flavor with lots of caramel, not too sweet though. Feels quite fresh and and crisp too. A tasty DIPA.

946ml can, 31/6-14 @ Stefans place. Clear amber, big soapy fluffy head, nice lacings. Caramel, grapefruit, lychee, resinand some alcohol fume. Sweet caramel, grapefruit & lychee, pine and resin, some alcohol heat. Big resiny & piney bitterness. Big body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Big chunky DIPA with lots of resin and some alcohol heat. Pretty nice though.

12 oz bottle. Konttori, Tampere, Finland. Clear golden colour with a small white head. Pine needles, dark fruitiness, mild resin, moderate hoppy bitterness and sweetish malt in the aroma. The flavour is pine needles, resin, moderate bitterness and malt. Sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
